Well, product will need to wait, seeing as I got the cut to lower maintenance--- some days, my hair doesn't even greet the showerhead!
But thanks for all the endorsements. I did take a photo, Joy, but the present hairstylist is chosen for speed and convenience over skill. I will keep trying though.
Glad to hear so many of you say 'fringe'. I had hoped for just that or shorter and spikier like (Transcona)Shannon's! Maybe I'll convince him to leave some length at the hairline when I return for a trim.
Astrid, I actually feel better than I (objectively speaking) look since I got the crop! I feel peppier and more in control---even if it is just of my hair length. All to the good! I won't say I don't miss my curls---but I have a record of alternating between long spirals and short prickles
Funnily, I feel able to wear more traditionally feminine pieces with shorter hair---lace, floral prints, long dresses... all of which I tend to question more with longer hair. It's like I have a preset 'femininity/ladylikeness' limit---if the hair contributes towards it, then something else has got to give.
