New Geeky Glasses! - YouLookFab Forum

First of all, apologies regarding the miserable face in the photo but I just looked goofy when I tried to smile! Also my hair is unstraightened (ie bushy) and it needs a cut.

Still getting used to the style of these glasses I picked up at the weekend. When I wore them to work on Monday one of the bosses said I looked like an owl! However, I'm not going to let them put me off - well I'll try anyway.

The Balenciaga frames were purchased from TK Maxx online (along with a cat eye pair which I need to have lenses put into) and I had the prescription lenses put in. Therefore the complete frame and lenses came to about £150 (which may sound expensive - but my lenses really hike the price anyway).

What do you think? I will not be offended if they're not your cup of tea. Your honesty is appreciated.

Love!!! And love you hair! To me eye, the glasses seem a perfect fit, love the contrast of the frames with your porcelain skin.

Hi Andrea! Nice to see you. Firstly, I love your shorter do - it really opens up your beautiful face.

Regarding the frames - I think they look fab on you and suit your quirky style perfectly. Not many people can carry such prominent frames, but based on how much I know you(r style) from the forum - you certainly can.

Great job for getting the whole specs for such great price - I know frames and lens are not a cheap deal in the UK. Do you mind me asking in which store you had the lens done at?

Finally, regarding your boss' comment - I honestly don't get people who allow themselves to blurb anything. My rule is if not asked for opinion and you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything. (This of course does not apply for YLF - when I don't say anything on many threads it's simply because I don't have time )

Love you hair! (to me perfect now) Really love your glasses!! They fit your fact perfectly and they compliment, not conceal your eyes. They look like they were made for you, your eyes sit perfectly in the middle and it brings them center stage!! Jealous can't wear important frames but I will enjoy seeing them on you!!

I personally don't look good in eyeglasses but I sure admire people who can pull them off with such style. These look super cute on you especially with your hair. Would love to see a pic with you smiling - I'll bet you don't look goofy at all.

Love them! There is a lot of frame, but you can pull it off. They suit your style.

These work very well, and such a close match to your hair colour. This shape seems very on trend...I'm noting deeper (read larger) frames with this modified cat's eye (slightly winged at the top, squared at the bottom) in magazines and recent street style pics.

Of course, this is the shape I just got (thanks to Angie, et al.). I hope yours work out for you as well as mine have worked out for me. Well done on the cost savings. Mine cost just under $800. CA.

I just got a quote on replacing just the lenses in my glasses. $500. Ouch.

Don't worry, they look great. I also jumped on the geeky glasses bandwagon last Spring when I went to get new ones. The "hipster" style was much cheaper than the Kenzo ones I really wanted. A couple hundred in difference, so I opted for the trendy hipster look, despite being 37 and not sure if I could pull it off. Everyone compliments me on the glasses now, and I'm sure it will be the same for you. Very cute, they really do suit you well!

Ornella - I got the lenses put in at Vision Express (slightly more expensive than the quote from Specsavers - but they were made within an hour).

Ceit - Wow, can't believe the price you had quoted for your lenses - you must have been reeling!

Deb - When I get the lenses put in my cat eye pair I will post a pic on the forum. I have added a pic below of the other frames as a taster.

I suppose these glasses are hipsterish (I would class my style as more quirky than hipster though). The frame style has grown on me alot and I have several pairs of stylin' heavier frames to wear depending on my mood/outfit.

Anyways, thanks for the boost.

Love the glasses...you look hip and contemporary.

To anyone who has a local Costco: check to see if they have an Optical Department. I had them replace lenses in some frames I really liked and I think the cost was less than $100 US.
