Gosh, I hope it is good! For my birthday Mr. Scarlet picked out this jacket for me. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to size it correctly, but I feel pretty confident about the size. I tried on my normal size, which seemed okay in the shoulders, but too long in the sleeves, so I tried one size down. Surprisingly the shoulders still seemed okay, but the arms were better. Please keep in my mind I have a little 5 month old bowling ball stuffed under my shirt and my proportions are temporarily modified accordingly. I was quite amazed I could still zip it up, but of course it looks a bit off at the moment. I think I will be able to wear this both over a thin sweater and under a winter coat. The sleeve length was still a little long, but this is always a problem for me. Therefore I have scrunched.
The leather is amazingly buttery soft. I didn't think I would want something with a ruffle (the ruffle is black suede) or the subtle peplum in the back, but these touches seemed to add just a little touch of femininity to a traditionally hard-edged piece. I was happy to see leather and peplum made Angie's list for fall, but I think this is classic enough to last several years. You think so?

So what do you think? Was this nuts? I told Mr. Scarlet that this gift was too extravagant, but he really insisted on it. I think he is trying to give me some extra TLC, to be honest, and it means a lot to me, so I really hope this passes muster. Of course I want your honest opinion though. I know it was a risk to buy a jacket while wearing a little bowling ball, but I have a couple of jackets from the same brand, so I feel I know the fit a little bit.

For this outfit I just followed an old formula I found on Angie's blog. The jeans are not that nice--just the only maternity pair I have from H&M and they only sell one wash at the moment, but that's what I have got for now.
