Glory's thread about what's age appropriate (burgundy skinnies = yes) inspired me to post this slightly embarrassing mis-adventure with neon yellow pants.

Ever since last fall, I have been wanting neon yellow skinnies. Starting in April, when they started to become more mainstream, I purchased (& returned) so many pairs, it feels exhausting looking at these pictures.

1-- My inspiration picture from Oct. 2011. I even went out and bought the black suede booties, but returned them due to their impracticality (which I now regret).
2 -- First pair -- from Dillard's, purchased early April. Returned due to pulling around crotch. The waist was very big, too.
3 -- Second attempt -- from Gap -- tried to go boyfriend chino route. Returned due to pulling around crotch (the problem being an hourglass/pear).
4 -- Third attempt -- from Loehman's -- tried going the cropped route. Returned, just not loving these.
5 -- Fourth try -- from H&M, tried going greener and mintier. But they were just so snug (yet big in the waist) so once again I returned.
6 -- Fifth try -- from Gap, again. Tried the boyfriend shorts route. Returned, again due to poor fit (pulling across hips, rise too long also).
7/8/9 -- Sixth (!!) time -- from AG via Shopbop. These work the best, and fit well. But still, I returned them. At the end of the day, I felt slightly embarrassed wearing these. Maybe that is the voice of reason, saying I'm too old for these? I felt they only worked with black or white, and I wasn't sure that when the weather finally cooled down, I would want to look like this. Or maybe, I was just plain DONE with this trend, having exhausted so many possibilities.

So this is how I have survived the neon trend. I finally decided, maybe I should stick to neon accessories. I have a neon belt, a couple of neon camis that look good under a sheer white top, and an almost neon orange watch and bracelet.

And yes I had fun playing with this trend. And learned a lot in the process.
