Need inspiration: Successful Denim with Denim?

Hello lovely YLF friends! I'm calling on you for inspiration. What I'd like is any photos you've recently found of successful casual denim on denim looks.

I thrifted the cool jacket in this link yesterday....but most of my bottoms are also denim! So I'm wondering how I might wear it successfully with jeans or a denim skirt. Ideas and pics most welcome!

I suspect it might work fine with jeggings tucked into tall boots...which will be wonderful, come fall. But I won't be bringing tall boots on my trip. So please keep that in mind!

I find that I have to wear longer jackets with pants. The proportions just don't work with skirts for me. I've worn my long jacket with my wide leg long and leans, and when the weather cooperates, I plan to wear it with skinnies.

Can you try this jacket with white skinnies?

I wore my version of the Canadian tuxedo (denim on denim) and got very favourable comments for it.

I like it with the skirt you have on! I think white skinnies would look great! Colored denim would also be nice!

Shannon, thanks - it looks like a top that shows might be key...and that is a bit tricky with the longer jacket. So I may have to experiment.

Rita and Meredith, I will definitely wear with the white skinnies. It works with those for sure.

What about with the new skinnies, aubergine side?
I find denim on denim difficult to achieve. Many elements must agree: colours, cut/style, proportions. This jacket seems like it would also look nice with a bootcut. And a cargo.
I quite like it with the skirt you have on in the picture.

I love it the way you show it here, Suz, and the white skirt looks great with the Doc Saras. How about a summery fit-and-flared dress or a light, breezy skirt?

Suz, great find! I would think skinny pants or capris in many colors could pair well with that jacket. Longer skirts or as you mentioned a longer top under the jacket would likely make it work better with shorter skirts. To me, it does overwhelm the skirt a bit right now. I'm not a bermuda shorts fan so I won't suggest those. I think you're going to find a lot of uses for it over time. I love denim with black pants and white top.

I have a lighter denim military inspired jacket (light enough to be shirt weight) that I pop over my tanks/shorts in summer. But I tend to wear shorter shorts (5" - 7" inseam) so the jacket is like 2/3 and the shorts 1/3. My tanks peep out the bottom by a couple of inches.

Here are two more examples, following the usual guideline to use two different washes of denim. I also wear my longer denim jackets with short shorts, but something tells me that's not your style...

Well...no Rae, it's not...BUT. When I was trying on the jacket I was wearing dark wash denim bermuda shorts. And you know...I may have been crazy, but I thought it looked pretty good! I had a white shirt on.

So I may experiment with my dark wash skinnies and see how it looks with those. Maybe it won't be so bad. And if it is cold enough to do the jacket up, it might be cold enough to sport a light scarf as well....which could bring some other colour interest into the outfit.
