This week brought lots of warm weather, new blooms in the gardens and a little surprise in my porch planter. The bursts of color made me so happy! Soo.......

#1 A week ago I discovered the beginning of a bird’s nest between two of my plant pots. Those pots will remain empty this year. We have been watching the daily progress of the nest and so far....3 robin’s eggs!

#2,3. Mama robin, the color of your eggs ! I wanted some of that for myself.

#4,5, 6 Coral columbine bloomed in two areas of our gardens. The crops look red, but are coral. The little bit of plaid on the bag echoed the colors in my striped top. Coincidentally this outfit was worn on our flower planting day.

#7,8 Flower Power Happy Pants. Hahaha I’m not the only one who likes these. I received compliments all day. Thank you Anthropologie.

This infusion of color made me so happy. Thoughts, comments and suggestions are most welcome.

I love the happy spring colors of robins egg blue and vibrant coral! My favorite is the coral top and flower power pants! You look terrific in that outfit!

All these outfits are fab, but my favorites are 4 and 7. I saw the floral skinnies on the Anthro website and was tempted by them, they look great on you! I am stunned by the blue of those Robin’s eggs. The longer necklaces are a nice touch too.

Oh gosh aren’t you lucky to have a bird nesting where you can see it and you are right ,those eggs are a gorgeous colour.I love all your outfits ,those bright clear colours ,blues ,reds and turquoise really suit you well and the floral trousers are great.

Jlpp, the scarab bracelet is a twin to one my own twin has. Our grandmother gave them to us when we turned 13.
Jussie, I know! Usually the Robin eggs appear to be a lighter color. I did no filtering on this photo. The eggs appear almost tourquoise. I think it must be due to the lack of bright light . The nest is on a covered porch and tucked between two big pots. Quite cozy!
Cardiff Girl, we are so lucky to live where we do. Being nestled in the woods provides us with the best nature has to offer. We have many birds that nest nearby, but this is th first time one has taken up residence on our porch!

Really like the middle zone of the dress where the cobalt blue and turquoise blue overlap for a small section. I think that it makes it much more interesting and flattering than just a straight border between the colors.

Efbgen, I am not sure about the pattern, but the dress is one made by Hatley. It washes and wears so well. This one will transition to beach summer with a pair of sandals and a big hat.
Jessikams, I agree. That nest is the perfect example of function and form.
LaPedestrienne, I adore my earth tones, but yes, this time of year, nature is full of colorful brights!
I will, JAileen! We have been able to get pics everyday when the mama is off her nest. We have been using our back door a lot, so as not to disturb her. At night, if we take the dogs out the front door, she stays on her nest. Perhaps she thinks we can’t see her.....
Oh, Angie, thank you! I am enjoying the new hair length and think it will be great for summer....hopefully the sun will lighten my hair even more. New England Preppy is going to really enjoy our short season of warm weather!
3style, I think so, too! That area was one of the reasons I chose this dress. There were many other great choices, but I liked this one the best.

You look absolutely stunning in these bright, happy colours. Gorgeous! I can't pick a favourite -- each one is terrific. Those pants are amazing on you -- no wonder you got compliments. And the dress looks perfect for the very hot temperatures we had last week.

Your middle bracelet in #8 -- brings a wave of nostalgia for me. Is that vintage? I have one that belonged to my mom that looks like that, but the stones are all blue.

I've never known a robin to build a nest in anything but a low tree or shrub, but what a beauty! And how fascinating to watch. Lucky you! Your outfits and jewelry really say Maine to me, so fresh and crisp. You wear these brights-mixed-with-white prints beautifully. The coral mixed with white and gold is a gorgeous combination for a coastal summer.

How wonderful. Nature sure is full of color now as La P said, how great to take your outfit inspiration from it. We have birds that nest under the flooring of our second floor deck, tucked into a motion detector light, in various trees and bushes....as you say Mainelady it's so wonderful to live "nestled in the woods". Your bracelet collection just continues to amaze!

Thanks, Suz. Yes, praying that the mama Robin loves her new little home and won’t abandon her eggs.
Janet, yes I think we can call it vintage. My twin and I were each given one in 1973 and they had been purchased sometime when we were infants/ toddlers, so sometime in the early 60s. My grandmother bought them and saved them for us. Each scarab is on a different colored glass.....at least I think it is glass.
Thank you, tulle. I had used the plant stand with three terra cotta pots in it during the fall and winter. The pots held pine, spruce and cedar boughs, as well as some red winter berries. Under the pots are some pieces of split wood from birch trees. I added large fungi as part of the natural decoration, so even after I pulled out the evergreen boughs, there are still several elements of nature on the plant stand. Maybe that is why the mama thought it would be a good place for a nest.
Chris, isn’t it wonderful?! We have lived out here for almost 12 years and every day I comment how much I love this place. Being surrounded by nature soothes my soul. Morning coffee is (was) usually enjoyed on the front porch, watching the sunrise, or out on the back terrace watching the deer feed. Being wrapped up in peace and beauty is a wonderful way to start the day.
