NAS - First batch - Navy Jackets

I ordered two navy leather jackets through NAS, and one from Macy's. One of the jackets, Classiques Entier(#9), is out of the running, because it doen't have any pockets. It feels like butter, though. What do you think of the other two, the Cole Haan and LaMarque. I can only keep one.

With jeans:
1-4 - Cole Haan (from Macy's)
5-8 - LaMarque Moto
9 - Classiques Entier Biker Jacket

With a skirt (BTW, do you think I should I keep the skirt?)
10-11 - Cole Haan
12-13 - LaMarque

I also ordered the faux fur coat. My husband frowned when he saw it. That's what I thought of it, too.

I prefer the Cole Han on you. Not sure about the skirt with it, though.

Gorgeous jackets - my vote is for Cole Haan. Length on the CH hits you perfectly. I like the front embellishment of the Lamarque, but it's too short.
Like the skirt - but need to see it without the jacket before I can commit to an aye/nay

They are quite different styles, and both look good on you. I kind of prefer the sleekness of the Cole Haan, but I also like the shorter length of the LaMarque. They both look like good fits. Which one sings to you more?
Okay, on second thought I do like the moto style better, especially in proportion with the skirt.
And keep the skirt!

I also agree that the furry coat is not that spectacular, though it looks like such a cozy and fun texture.

What do I think? I think I want to go back to where I can wear my leather jackets, lol!

I like the second one on you. They both have an edgy vibe, but there's something about the double collar and off-center zip that just works. (But I don't know the rest of your style).

Both jackets look good. The differences I'm seeing are small and I'm wondering if they could be attributed to camera angle/body position? The Cole Haan seems more streamlined, especially in the arms. Maybe the sleeve is cut slightly more narrow? The moto has little more going on and reads more casual to my eye. I prefer the shorter length on the moto with the skirt but it still may be a little long for that skirt. A shorter jacket will show off the beautiful pleats.

I prefer the La Marque, actually. From what I can make out, a better fit, nicer drape, more interesting, and iconic in the moto silhouette. VERY good with pants/jeans. Less so with the skirt.

The Cole Haan is lovely. A little more conservative, which is NOT a bad thing. Very clean and simple. Has its place.

Thank you all for your opinions. I would probably wear the jacket most often with pants, but I thought the LaMarque would be better with a skirt. But I like the simplicity of the Cole Haan. I almost feel like the LaMarque is costumey. It's a little odd. I don't see that with other people, just on me.

How interesting! I know this is about you, not me, but I can't help but notice that your idea of what feels "costumey" is the opposite of mine. I think *I'm* RATE, and the sleekness of the Cold Haan would look like I was trying to smooth that over. This "personal style" business makes sense!

The Cookie Monster coat looks cute, if that's a look you'd want. But reversible? Turning that inside out would be cozy, yes, but would also add half a foot to your girth!

I love the 'wing collar' effect on the Cole-Haan. When it's popped that way, this jacket looks super-stylish. To my eye it makes this jacket far, far superior to the La Marque.

I like them both! Ugh, decisions!

For me, I'd choose the Cole Haan because it's streamlines and a bit conservative. Meshes better with the leather as I'm not trying to pull of leather and moto.

I am obviously biased, since I bought the LaMarque jacket myself, but I much prefer it on you, it looks sleeker and more contemporary. I would pass on the skirt, it doesn't wow me. The coat does look cozy, but it reads more like sweater coat to me than plush faux fur.

The Cole Haan is more classic and conservative. The moto is also a classic but with a bit more casual vibe. It took me forever to feel right in a moto but now I love the style. Both look great on you. Which one would you reach for the most. A navy leather coat is quite a prize, and you can't go wrong with either one.

The skirt: I like the skirt but how you feel is the deciding factor. I got a black pleated skirt last winter that I enjoy for a change from pencil skirts. I find the pleats slenderizing and they are easy to walk in without being voluminous. If it has to be dry cleaned, return it. They are usually expensive to clean. If pleats need to be pressed, their is often a price added on per pleat! If you can wash and hang to dry, you are good.

I agree with Joy. Both leather jackets work but have different vibes. From your comments, the second one doesn't seem to appeal to you as much as the Cole Haan. So I'd trust your gut feeling.

I really really like the skirt but not with the jackets. I'm with your husband on the furry coat.

I do like the Moto. I feel a bit like a poseur. I know that's silly. No one thinks it's a real motorcycle jacket.

The skirt is hand wash, hang dry. I'm not sure about it.

Before reading other comments, my first instinct is the Cole Haan (keeping in mind that my taste is skewing classic lately). I love a good faux fur coat, but that one looks a little big. Both the Cole Haan and the Le Marque appear to fit nicely.

I like the La Marque better by far. I like the more shapely fit (especially when closed) and the double pointed collar, and I personally think leather jackets should be on the shorter side unless they are like a trench style.

ETA The faux fur looks quite shapeless and too big to me.

Both the Cole Haan and LeMarque look great on you. I don't think either would be a mistake. Which one does your eye keep going back to?
It might be the photo, but I don't think the furry coat looks like it fits as well.

Why don't you try those jackets on with other pants, jeans, and skirts and maybe a few other tops underneath? That may help to solidify your decision.

The Cole Haan is more conservative and serious and LeMarque more youthful and fun. As motos go, however, it is fairly conservative and I love that it doesn't have shiny zippers and all kinds of do-dads like a belt at the bottom.

I will add that I have a major sugar eye for moto jackets and that I avoid long jackets for myself because the proportion doesn't work for me, so I don't know how much that is biasing my opinion.

Another vote for the LaMarque. I think it looks fabulous on you, both in fit and in style.

I think Donna's advice is good, to try the jackets on with other items. That will give you more information.

As far as the skirt goes, I have a poison eye for pleats, so I will be of no help!

One more vote for the Lamarque. About the skirt, I don't love it, I think it doesn't do you any justice and that you could find a better fit.

I am with Angie 100% but I also think you need to style them as you would wear them to know for sure. The Cole Han looks like a lovely jacket and if you prefer it, it will work equally well.

Love the LaMarque. The Cole Haan is nice too. They have different vibes. I just bought a leather moto (Tahari Skylar, Angie's pick, in merlot). I already had a La Marque in the same style as your Cole Haan (also in merlot), so I think both styles are useful (and obviously I like the color!) Maybe one this year, another one next year?

I used to feel like a poseur in moto styles, but after wearing non-leather motos (sweaters, cotton jackets), I got used to it and now really like the style on me.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I'm still up in the air, but Donna's suggestion of trying on more outfits to see how they look with other pants, other tops, etc., sounds like a good idea. Also Joy's comment about it taking awhile for her to become comfortable in a moto was helpful. But all of you were helpful, even though I'm undecided. I should add that my husband prefers the Cole Haan. Coincidentally, I ordered him a leather jacket from NAS. It came today, and he loves it. Guess what brand it is? Cole Haan!

JAileen, I finally got the leather moto bug after the mega YLF get-together, the famous Inge Fest! A few YLFers had on their leather moto jackets and were wearing them with such ease (Cerinda from Portland was the one who really stands out in my mind), and I was inspired. Maybe you just need a day around a moto-wearing crowd. (Come back to Seattle! We'll get you over that moto-hesitation.)
