I want to add two things. First, the earliest moto I tried on was in black and I sent it back. I felt like a complete poseur in it. All wrong for me (at least then).

Later I got a blush moto from forum member Dee, and that changed everything. It was hard to style at first but once I had a few outfits worked out, I really enjoyed it.

It wasn't until I got my blue moto that I totally fell in love and began to feel completely at home in a moto. Now, it actually feels easier to style than my more traditional leather jackets (to the point where I am passing them on) and I would not be without a moto, ever. It's just that it needs to be blue vs. black.

On the skirt, I think it is gorgeous and I love it on you, but -- two cautions. First, Joy's about cleaning. Second, I have a new red pleated skirt like this and while I love it for the reasons Joy said (plus the colour) I am finding it hard to style on my short-waisted self -- I always feel a little plump or something in it. Matronly? Or maybe just short-waisted? At any rate, it is not the slam dunk I thought it would be. Having said that, I have worn it more than any other skirt this summer so it is not a loss.

I much prefer the CH on you . Sleeve and back fit is perfect . Funny how we are all seeing fit differently . I might have frowned at the wooly blue coat too , but it's pretty cool .

I prefer the first jacket, but like the second one too. The skirt is neither here nor there for me.

so...do you have other leather coats? if this is adding to a collection, i'd go with the moto...if this is the start of a collection, i'd go with the CH....why you ask, because the CH is a more classic and IMO straight foward so will be easier to style and you will reach for it more.
no opinion on the skirt, but for some reason i'm in love with that cookie monster coat! but...it seems like one of those things, i love it, but would i really wear it, probably not, and i wonder if you'd be the same way

Here's my other leather jacket. It's definitely a statement - metallic grey with quilted sleeves. It's gorgeous, but I wanted something that would be more of a basic.

So to me, this looks similar to the Cole Haan and I'd lean towards the Moto because of that.

I think you should stretch your comfort zone and keep the moto!

I'm on team Lamarque. I agree with Diana that the length is good.
The Cole Haan seems to have very buttery leather...if it does, I might be tempted to change my mind.

Now that I see your own jacket - definitely the La Marque. It's DIFFERENT.

I like them both and think either could work for you. I prefer the style of the La Marque but the CH appears to fit better in the sleeves. But it's hard to tell from the photos. Are they a comparable weight? Equally comfortable? I like the idea of trying them with a few outfits.

JAileen--Is the navy an actual navy or more grey? The colour looks very similar to your existing silver jacket on my phone screen.

Here are the three: Cole Haan, my metallic one, and LaMarque. The CH looks bluer. They both have beautiful, soft smooshy leather.

I've been trying them on again, and the zipper placket on the sleeve of the LaMarque catches on my watch. It might come down to that.

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts. I decided to return the LaMarque. Some of you thought the sleeves on the Cole Haan fit better the the LM. I think the reason the LM sleeves looked a little funny was they were too long, and I instinctively pushed them back. And that's why it wanted to catch on my watch.

However: I just ordered the Tahari merlot moto. So we'll see.

I have that CH jacket in brown from 5-6 years ago. It IS conservative, BUT it's the most luxurious buttery leather- I get compliments whenever I wear it. That isn't the kind of thing that shows up so well in photos, but in real life it makes a very definite impact. And it feels so good on the body! So obviously I think you made the right choice!

Ryce, thank you! It does feel great, and it's a little less navy, more blue than the LaMarque. The LM was very close to black, which I avoid.

Looks good. The CH looks a bit dressier than your silver jacket.
They don't look that different in colour in the photo, but I think that is just the sun washing things out a bit.

Onto the Tahari. Did you order a size down?

I ordered a medium. Should I have gone down?

ETA: I just ordered a small. I can't believe it would fit, but just in case..
