there are so many of you on ylf...i never realized this was such a problem.

mine is the complete opposite. my calves fit the shaft and then some. jean tucking is not a look i can sport often.

We have quite a large contingent on ylf - Angie, Maya, Jean (GG), Medusa, April, CRW...and several more that I have forgotten! I'm lucky that I found a pair on basic black riding boots that meet my calf and height requirements (I'm petite & figured out that my ideal boot height is just about 13") last year. But I'd love to add a cognac pair too!

Count me in! I'm also on the hunt for a cognac pair with a low heel, but I think my La Canadiennes will keep me happy for the months or years it will take to find a second pair of boots that are perfect.

Yep, I'm a member of the slender calves crowd too. 13.5 inches. Too bad my thighs won't take the hint and stay slim without massive amounts of time on my elliptical!

So far, I've had good luck finding riding boots that fit, but slouchy boots tend to be a bit TOO slouchy on me. I haven't given up the search, though.

Count me in. My challenge (I suspect like Jean's) is finding narrow calf boots that are tall enough. I have 2 pairs that fit well in the calf but ideally should be at least an inch taller. My Docs are the only boots that are good height, but they are a tad loose in the calf.

And me too. I have a 13 inch calf circumference and am regular height. All I can say is thank you SW, Prada, Doc Martens and slouchy boot styles.

You can add Tanya and Taylor to the list too.

Taylor can be the president -- she has calves smaller than even the smallest ones offered by Duo!

I'm in too. Yesterday I took the classic black riding boots I found on sale to the cobbler to have the calf nipped in. It took me a year and a half to find a pair that were nice enough and reasonably-priced enough to justify the additional expense. The alteration is not cheap, but in the end I should have perfectly fitted black boots that will still cost me a lot less than ordering similar ones from Duo.

I'm not sure if this is a common alteration -- has anyone else tried to find a cobbler willing to do this? Mine did it for me once before, but I don't know if he's typical.

April, I have no idea whether calf alteration is something most cobblers will do but I'm dying to hear if anyone else knows. I love boots, but they don't feel so fab when they're not fitted at the calves!

I belong here. I'm hoping that I won't have to have the boots altered that I just ordered (thank you April!), but I fear that I will. I don't know of any cobblers, so this could be a challenge.

Oh, I guess maybe I can join this support group? I don't think of my calves as narrow, but they're 13.5." I'm very happy with some new boots I've gotten in the past couple months, so I can't complain. (That may be because I have started shelling out a lot more $$ for them!)

My calves are huge compared to most narrow calf girls, so I'm lucky in a weird way. But they are still a lot narrower than average, which means a dearth of options available.

I also belong to the narrow ankles club. All of my boots, no matter how well they fit everywhere else, are very slouchy at the ankle area. More so than they are meant to be. I just have to ignore that though. Good boots are hard enough to find as it is.

14 in...first time i've measured them. huh, i wonder if i've been wearing my boots too loose?

edit: this measurement, of course, depends on the time of the month, how much carbs i've induldged in, the phases of the moon, ya da, ya da, ya da.

ok, i think my impression that i'm a wide calved person may be from trying to stuff jeans into boots that were meant to be worn with a dress, where the shaft fit snugly on bare leg or with tights.

also, this may be from a pair of boots that may have been meant for more narrow calved girls so it's always a teensy bit too tight at the upper calf and loose at the ankle.

hmmm...need to re-evaluate my boot fits.

Pick Me, Pick Me!!

13.5" calves, and thanks to Kate sparking my curiosity, 7.5" ankles...

I'm like Maya - calves that aren't super super skinny (compared to some of you guys!), but skinny ankles that slouch more than they are supposed to in relation to my calves.

I'm pretty similar to Kate...maybe a little smaller in the calf (more like 12 inches) but the same ankles.

I tried on a pair of boots in a vintage store today that fit my calves really well. Black, square toe, great condition. I passed because they were $80 but wondering if I should've bought them.....I think they'd be awesome with dresses/skirts.

Okay, I had to go measure my ankles too. 9". Is that an average size? I've never thought about it before...maybe that means yes?

Hi All, I am new to this site but stumbled onto it as I searched Google for boots to fit my narrow calf (13") and small ankle (8"). I saw a few post where some ladies on here have had some luck, can anyone tell me where they have found boots not matter the style because all I have are too wide boots so I am willing to start over...Also I wear a size 10.

hey stace,

you may want to start a thread asking for some brand recommendations. you could also search endless.com or zappos.com for narrow shoes. many of their boots have the shaft circumference listed to guide you. do you know your calf measurement?

I went to see the cobbler today, and he said that it's totally possible to narrow the shaft of boots (and will cost $40-$60), but there is one condition! The boots MUST have a zipper running the length of the shaft. This allows them to turn the boots inside out, use a machine to sew along the leather, and then hand sew up the lining.

wow, I don't know how I missed this thread before! Just found it now because I was following Kate's recent thread about her new boots (Kate -- I'm so sorry to hear about the news from the cobbler). I'm an 11-incher (right calf) *and* a 12-incher (left calf).

I'd stumbled across the Duo website yesterday during a google search and just saw it mentioned in a few comments in this thread -- has anyone here purchased from them before?
