My turn to ask: K/R/A JFE kimono topper?

In my quest for interesting tops and toppers, I came across this kimono jacket with a pattern I really liked, and a lighter colorway. This is the smallest size, and I was a little taken aback at how flowy it is on me. But I am liking it more than I thought.

Is it too overwhelming or boho cool? Please ignore my painted Danskos with salmons. Could or should it be altered? Or go back?

Janet, chime in because I certainly rained on your parade a bit - feel free to tell me this is just NEFE (Not Even Flattering Enough)!

Also debating these Vince Camuto shorts as an option for work instead of skirts. Thoughts?

Sorry, I think it's too overwhelming on you. You seem to disappear in it...
The shorts seem appropriate for work, as long as you feel comfortable in them.

I love them on you, both pieces. The kimono style suits your style personality to a tee. I don't see it overwhelming you because of the shorter sleeves and overall length. Now, if it were long, that might be different.

But I just realized that if people don't like Boho things, they might not like this. But I do (like Boho things). I got a jacket like this from Zara a while back and wore it to a Stones concert, the whole outfit worked together beautifully. But I gave it away because I could only come up with that one outfit. Maybe I'm a bit sorry for my impatience as I do love me a Boho kimono, done minimally.

I like it on you and I like the shorts.

I have a kimono and I do mostly wear it with blue or black jeans with a plain tee/tank underneath. I let the kimono be the star of the show.

I love it! (And I'm not even into boho). I think it's a fabulous summer statement piece. Shorts look good, too.

Wear the kimono with denim, too. It's really versatile.

The shorts and dark florals look very you. I would wear this to a casual workplace, or as a "get off the plane running" outfit.

I love kimonos so it is incredibly hard for me to be objective. So I love it right off the bat. I will say it is stunning with the grey dress. The entire ensemble works beautifully.

And the fourth picture. I wasn't so sure about shorts to work. They definitely would not be allowed where I work, but they look fabulous. That sweater is to die for.

In summation. I love the kimono. I vote keep. The shorts work because they are longer on you than the model and with that sweater they are elevated to a work environment.

I like them both Una. Sure, the kimono is a lot of volume, but show me a kimono that isn't! These colours are wonderful, and it will look great with jeans.
I have a similar pair of shorts that I wear to work in the summer, I find it a great alternative to a skirt.

I'm tempted to copy you on this one. My first thought was that would make a great travel piece, because it could play double-duty as a robe in the hotel.

I particularly like the colors & the soft flow -- it is working brilliantly with your softer hair color.

I promise, I'm not raining on the parade! However, just to be a slight spanner... I get a little of what my husband calls the bathrobe effect here. It's gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but it looks a lot like my favorite robe. I'm a little sensitive to that because of hub's bias. It's not a matter of flattery so much as the effect, I think. Sorry! Feel free to ignore my take on it if you love it!

I like it too! The length is just right so I don't find it overwhelming at all.
Hard to see how shorts fit on the photo, but they should be a no brainer.

I never know what to make of kimonos - but this one is a good fit on you, and I like the look of it. Shorts outfit is excellent, really like it. But, salmon motif Dansko's ! What the heck??

Wow this is timely...that kimono has been in my shopping cart for a few days! I'm glad to see it on you and I do like it. I'm not 100% sure...it does look big, but aren't they supposed to? I think I've got one foot on the fence, but mostly like!

Thanks for the feedback! A kimono is not in my comfort zone so all advice helps.

Janet, that is my concern too. There is a bathrobe-like effect but that may just be the look. Not sure!

I am struggling with the distinctions between oversized, flowy, draped and just plain too big. I've always been able to "pull off" the oversized look with my shoulders. But I want it to look intentional...

Peri and anyone else considering this item, note that it is lightly lined which could make it too hot for some summer climates.

Appreciate all the food for thought!

I am not reading the other responses, so I am not biased. I don't like it on you. I don't feel like it is your style, unless this is a new direction. And if it is, well, I feel like it overwhelms you. Sorry, I would keep looking.

I do like the shorts. I think those work. They work better, IMHO, because they drape well and there isn't extra fabric.

LOVE the shorts ! I really like the kimono and find that the sleeves go too far out on you, though. IMO. Could they be narrowed or pinned back to make them less wide ? You could pin them, even with paper clips to get a visual.
