i think the kimono and shorts work when you've got other pieces giving structure, as you do here. If say you wore the kimono with a long flowy skirt it might be overwhelming.

I like both a lot. And I think Columbine makes a great point about what you pair the kimino with. But the pattern on the kimino feels very Una to me: unexpected and cool. Could definitely see it paired with some RATE jeans.

I like the kimono and the print, and it's not a bad fit, but is it you? Do you love it? That might be more important in your decision than how loose it is...

I think the kimono is not too big; I think it works due to its not being too long, and that you've paired with the structured pencil skirt; same as might work with fitted jeans or pants.
I love the dark flowered T top! Can you wear shorts to your work? Or is it just the same as a shorter version of culottes anyway! I think the footwear might sway me- for professional wear I'd amp that up to balance out the casual nature of the shorts, especially if the top is also a sort of casual style, but I think you said your workplace allowed a casual vibe.

I LOVE both pieces. I had wanted a kimono for some time and I tried a number of them. Most I rejected because they did have a bathrobe effect or I just didn't like the fabric. (I ended up finding a black kimono style jacket with some shaping that works well but would still consider the right patterned one.) The colors of this one are terrific and perfect for you. I think the style works well if your pair it with more simple, structured pieces.

If I could wear a pleated trouser style of dressy shorts I would definitely add a pair for summer as my workplace is casual. I love these with the floral top.

Love both for you Una. The shorts are a slam dunk for sure and I like the kimono for a wee change-up in your style. Plus they both look great ON you.

ETA: Hmmmm...wonder how the kimono and shorts would look together???

I'd like to see the kimono with bootcuts or maybe straights.

Una, I have a Top Shop jacquard (so much stiffer fabric) kimono jacket whose sleeves hit at about that length since it was made for a taller person. They got it the way and the style didn't allow me to push them up. Also, the neck shifts around which I guess happens with the style. Anyway, I used my Nordstrom alteration allowance to get the sleeves shortened; I think it was only $20. I like the jacket on you, but I would LOVE it with the sleeves a bit shorter. I have told myself not to leave [alteration] dollars on the table. How about you?

Thanks for the warning about the lining! Yes, that would probably defeat the purpose for me, I won't order.

Sorry for the late post, but just wanted to say that I really like the kimono. But I am a big fan of boho-style and just recently bought a kimono myself. I've been looking for inspiration on how to style it, and I like how you've kept the rest of your outfit more fitted and subdued.
