My style hero

This danish lady is my style hero. Style bloggers like this may be an acquired taste, but I find so much joy and inspiration in her sometimes crazy outfit combinations. Along with Angie and all your fearless and fab WIWs, she has been this years biggest style inspiration for me.

She seems to have a gigantic wardrobe, many old and thrifted gems, and the occasional expensive designer garment. What fascinates me the most about this particular style blogger, is her ability to make every combination look so very NOW. I am sure she can keep on mixing her existing wardrobe for many many years, still being able to make it look current and modern. I have no idea how she does it, but I am paying close attention!

She's fantastic! I scrolled through twice and still felt like there is more to see. Too early in the morning to focus on my style heros but I will be corny and say I get tons of inspiration from this very forum.

ETA: Just musing how I’m really mostly lifestyle fashion inspired. I mean, I like furniture, activities and furniture to be a part of the package. Lol

Thanks for sharing. I haven't seen Mette Sorrig before, but will definitely remember her from now on. She has a fascinating, personal, creative style and, obviously, a keen eye for details. (Notice the great effect of glasses, belts, necklaces, fun footwear, and sophisticated colour repetition.) I, too, can see her influence in your style, Synne.

Gitte has a different style than Mette and was born in 1935, so she is 84 years old. However, her timeless elegance with dramatic strokes is a perennial inspiration to me--and many others, I think. The concept of her single, but elegant uniform often comes to mind when I am packing for travelling. Quoting from the article in the above link:

"She has her own timeless and elegant and uniform ready for all occasions. Her outfits are the same for every season, a sweater, long coat, and pair of loose trousers. She wears her signature black glasses and different hats to protect her skin from the sun. Slim cat, yay! Thank you. I have been greatly influenced by her to dress bolder, more unconventional and more expressive. Glad it shows!

Another stylish lady I admire is Linda Rodin. I believe she has been mentioned on the forum before. I love her strickt colour palette, fancy footwear (silver bookending!) and trendy, yet classic style.

Fun that you like these amazing ladies who are not young anymore, but indeed have incredibly personal styles. I have felt the same way always. When I was 10, I saw an article in a fashion magazine featuring stunning 40 years old ladies, and it made a lasting impression. I decided that 'I want to look like them when I grow up.' When I was in my teens, twenties and thirties, people were very surprised when I told them that I looked forward to becoming 40, 50, and more. I always thought that experienced grown-ups were--and in several cases also looked-- more interesting than young people.

+40 ladies with great personal style are still my style heroes. That's one of the reasons I enjoy being here at YLF, where there are many of them.

I also follow Alicia Jay of Tall Swag. She is 6'6" tall, and rocks heels and urban luxe as well as pretty dainty outfits. Love her confidence and fierceness, but I could never wear heels that high or dresses that tight. She is rockin' it though!

These women are great.

I like Karen Britchick- and Useless for different reasons.

Karen has a flamboyant style I admire. Really fun - lots of vintage. New York based.

Signe from Useless is also into vintage - her style is simple and she likes neutrals. But I love her repeating pieces often!

I can see why you like her!
I myself have a hard time finding truly inspiring bloggers these days: they're either too plain (and thus uninspiring) or too out there for me. I get more inspiration from costume movies (love those classic cut dresses, coats etc from shows like Mad men, Miss Maisel etc) and of course this forum, and Angies outfit formulas.

A question: I can see her general influence, but how does it actually work? I mean, if the point is to be creative, then you don’t want to slavishly copy what she wears. Even if you did want to wear the very same thing she does, you might not have those elements in your closet, not to mention that things look different on different bodies.

I’m asking because I’m starting to feel stuck. I like the short skirts and have had fun with them this winter, but enough already. When I pull out my pants, I really don’t see exciting ways to wear them. So how do I look at someone else’s pix, of their body, their wardrobe, and transfer it to myself?
