After doing much thinking and some browsing over the weekend, I've come up with an idea of how I want to dress and present myself come Spring. In a previous thread of mine http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....lationship based on observations from YLF, I indicated I want my style going forward to contain the following:

  • Simple lines.
  • Structured.
  • Quality.
  • Statement accessories.
  • Chic with hints of hard edge.

And I've come up with my color palette for spring/summer as well. I had a color palette in mind this past fall/winter and found it very helpful to keep me focused.

Neutrals

  • Black
  • White (I want to add MUCH more white - particularly in tops)
  • Light grey
  • Navy/ink blue

Colors

  • Tomato red and/or orange
  • Citron

If I can find the perfect items, I will be adding one pair of pointy toe or almond toe flats in black and one pair of kitten heels in red. I'm also still considering adding a pair of the SE Okala pumps.

While at The Bay over the weekend perusing the new Spring merchandise that is trickling in, I saw two jackets that particularly caught my eye. Both are from the brand 1 State. I must say that the quality feels quite good - fabrics were substantial, seaming and details lovely and sturdy and the colors saturated and exquisite.

The first item is a bright citron moto jacket. Moto jackets work particularly well for my short torso and apple shape. I had a citron Gap blazer a couple of years ago and adored the color but not the fit or style of that jacket. This would be a replacement since I purged the Gap blazer.

The second item is an ink cocoon style open jacket. I tried it on in my regular size and then tried the size down - much better in the smaller size. The shoulders fit well and the taper at the bottom provided the structure I need so as not to feel overwhelmed. Other elements in the outfit will contain structure to counteract the slight volume of the jacket. I love the idea of this type of jacket over simple dresses or the Vince Camuto tube skirts, as well as over BF jeans rolled with a bit of a heel and a simple white tee.

I would love to hear your thoughts on my spring style in general and what you think of these two jackets in particular.

Oh....and I bought the navy INC blouse in pic #3.
