...with Eileen Fisher that is!

I've been doing a lot of mulling over and examination of my style needs, desires and the direction I want to head into. Although it may not show directly through my WIW posts, I have been feeling a significant style shift these days. And although some of that has to do with the silhouettes and fashion changes trickling into the stores and showing up heading into Spring, it has a great deal to do with some type of internal shift.

I have done a lot of experimentation in the last six months with fabrics, colors, silhouettes, shapes, drape and structure. I have completely enjoyed ALL of the new things I've tried. But I'm starting to pull away from too much drape and volume and seem to be gravitating towards a bit more of a tailored look. With my particular body shape, I'm finding a more tailored look to be more figure flattering.

My favorite outfit I've worn lately was this one from Casual Friday http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ual-friday. I asked what it was you all saw that made this feel so good on. You all have such great insight but these particular observations from Angie really made me sit up and take notice: "Clean, crisp and simple lines. Structured. Good quality pieces. Statement accessories."
And then Karie's comments in my WIW thread this morning "I'm getting a bit of a "rocker chic" vibe from this outfit and I love that" also struck a chord.

So if I were to put together my style goals heading into spring, it would be:

  • Simple lines.
  • Structured.
  • Quality.
  • Statement accessories.
  • Chic with hints of hard edge.
But I don't want to go all out structured - I'm picturing my favorite EF drape front dresses (the black one and the blue one) with a structured jacket or leather jacket and bold handbag. That sort of thing.

So this brings me to my dilemma - due to my experimentation over the past while, I have fallen in love with the quality fabrics and comfort of my EF pieces and I intend on purchasing a few new items for spring/summer...BUT...I need to find a way to marry those items with the direction I want to head stylistically. Is this possible?

Would absolutely love your feedback and thoughts on what you've read here (if you made it all the way through - lol!) - is this the style direction you see me going and do you think it's a good one? How do I make my love of comfort work with more structure?
