My riff on SarahD8's challenge

I won't be doing a end of the year recap because, frankly, I do not want to look back on this last year. But I have been inspired by SarahD8's challenge to try to pull out my less usual wears instead of just going for my standbys. Also, meanwhile, I am back at the thrift store for now. Now I am sorting at two locations, so new mirrors for selfies.
1. Thrifted Sophie D'Hoore cardigan that I have found tricky to style because it doesn't close and is short sleeve.
2. Newly thrifted wool bomber from Hope Stockholm. I liked this better in the mirror than in the picture.
3. Attempt to use Angie's formula with a newly thrifted For Love & Lemons jacket that I was going to sell, then Angie's formula came up, but honestly I am not crazy about this look.
4. Attempt to style this very cool vintage Ann Demeulemeester sweater, that is not in a good color for me and is probably deserving of a new home.
5. Vintage Nina Ricci sweater. I like this.
6. Cocoon shape is my favorite coat shape and I have been into stand up (funnel?) collars lately. Pamela Milano coat.

Any comments, suggestions or questions are very welcome of course.

Oh fun! And it’s lovely to see you. You don’t sound terribly enthused about these looks but I have to say i like them all.

I have a cardi similar to yours in #1 - it’s cream, but same shape and texture as yours. I wear it as a summer cardi, like over a tank top or sundress. It’s great for evenings and cooler/shoulder season days. I like how you are grunge-ifying this one. I might try tucking the top, or maybe a longer top or one closer in color to the pants? (Right now that stripe of olive below the cardi hem is maybe hanging out in neither here nor there territory?)

You say you don’t like #3 but my gosh that shade of lavender likes you! To me the shoes add an element of edge that i associate with your style.

Agree that the shapes in 5 and 6 are stunners! Well done!

Jaime, so great to see you post! I love that you are doing your own interpretation of the challenge. I'll bet it will prove a great way to make decisions, yay or nay, on items you've been waffling about.

I'm not surprised you love the coat -- it's gorgeous on you and looks really cozy. The Nina Ricci sweater is so pretty! That's a really nice winter look. I like the Ann Demeulemeester sweater, too, though it is tough to see the details or even to judge the colour -- is it brown with grey?

You look amazing in lavender! It really is great on you. But if it doesn't make you happy, well, no point in keeping it! The colour combo is so fun, though, right?

My favourites are the same as yours - 1 and 2 and 5 and 6. These look just wonderful and make you sparkle!!

Thanks for posting all your outfits I especially like your cocoon coat. I love that shape coat and have one in black and also grey. I think they suit petite people as they are our version of oversized without looking like we are wearing someone else’s coat.

I like 1 and 4, the ones you are iffy about, of course. It’s the texture and warmth that coordinates with your lovely thick curls. I think.

These looks are all great on you! Don't worry, I haven't posted a 2023 recap either... We can both just sit in the back of the class, like unruly schoolchildren who haven't done their homework

#1 I have similar (albeit shorter) cardigan, & I think adding something to fill the open space might help (maybe a scarf or puffer vest? Even a crossbody/ sling bag could fill the gap)

#2 those earrings are fab - good colour on you! The ones in #6 add some 'you' edginess too

#3 another vote for the fab colour! The lug soles on the white boots do edge it up a little, but do you have black lug soled boots instead? Even gunmetal grey/ pewter could work instead to add a bit more hard edge into the look

#4 As much as I like the drapery on this cardigan, I was literally wearing something similar today (albeit in a much darker chocolate brown). Whilst that means we both have great taste , I can't help but think your style is quite different to mine lol! So before passing it on, it might be worth pondering how (& whether) this type of unstructured draped topper speaks to you and your style adjectives?

I also love the cocoon shape coat! Looks really nice on you. I will add to the group that the lavender is such a nice color on you. Is the jacket maybe too long? Or might work better with slimmer pants? It would be a shame to pass on such a pretty color for you.

Totally understand not looking back on this year. I've been meaning to ask how you and your family are holding up during this terrible time in Israel? It can't be great, but so glad to see your face in more fab Jaime pieces!

Another vote for the lavender but you must enjoy wearing it.

These are all fun and so different--I like the variety! 1 and 3 are my favorites. I'm really drawn to the proportions in #1 and the gorgeous color in #3. Your hair is looking super fab, too--I like the length, with all the curls piled up. So pretty!

For the cardi in 1, do you have a big pin, like a kilt pin? I have a big safety pin that came with an OSKA garment, and I will use it different ways to close the front of an open cardi like this. Sometimes I lap the edges and pin them wherever it suits me, but sometimes I put the pin through each edge, so the cardi stays open a couple of inches (the width of the pin) but doesn't keep falling open, which drives me nuts.

What about #3 do you think isn't working for you? It looks good to my eye and very trendy silhouette?

I like what you’ve done with no 1. It’s a bit subversive. Not your usual cardigan look. I’d say keep it.

I also think no 4 really suits you. Looks excellent with your hair. Nice contrast.

I agree with your assessment of no 3.

Suz - Yes, it is about time I just wear the things, huh? I do love the lavender color, I am just not sure about the cut. Perhaps I will give it a second go today

Zaeobi - Yes big hoop earrings save a lot of outfits for me! Good idea about changing up the shoes. The drapey cardigan needs more consideration I think. The problem is that is a bit olive green and so am I.

is so tough to see the details or even to judge the colours in many of your picties because I bet all have some special details not only brand names on it, isn't it. (Love the Nina Ricci sweater-does it have a layer of voile on the top of the patterned knit in front? Anyway, great color on you!)
Dressing all darks is what I do in winter the most- so all your darks here are so familiar with me. But, then I loved the styling of the lillac coat with jeans, a red bag and white boots! Cocoon coat from last pictie looks gorgeous. Love it's practical length.

YOUR HAIR IN #1 is SOOOO GORGEOUS! The outfit in #1 with the new short cardigan is wonderfully styled. Cheeky and cosy! My fave of this batch!

You were made to wear cocoon coats, so no wonder you love them! They love you right back. KILLER coat in #6!

Lilac and red work well for you too! The shape of the coat in #3 is not cocoon, so I get that it doesn't make you happy. Off to its next happy home! Please wear more liac, though.

#2 is sooo stinking cute with the cobalt hoops! Looking Scandi.
