My Own Gap BF jeans Update

I finally had a chance to sort this out this morning.

I liked the way my regular size fit - baggy and loose.

But I much preferred the way the size up fit - *very baggy and loose*. Dropped crotch galore. Love that. They come off really easily without undoing the button or fly. They barely stay on sans a belt, which is how I am wearing them today. The tight tapered hems give them structure somehow and they stay on! They kind of grab onto my calves for dear life. Weird but it works.

Just thought this info might help others, so I posted my thoughts right away. Eventually there will be a visual.

I must admit, I have wondered if I should have sized up to get more of the baggy look but have decided that may not work as well on someone who is shorter and wider than say someone like yourself.

So far, most of my clients have sized up on these - some have sized up TWO sizes. A few have preferred their regular size. I guess you have to find your baggy sweet spot

Oh! I'm looking forward to the pics, Angie. I've been working on some BF jeans with zero luck so far. And I've been following everybody's trials and advice. I have yet to try the Gap ones, so that will be next.

Are these the BF's with the little pleats near waist band? I tried that version on in a dark indigo (clearance rack) and liked the leg fit on them. The pleats sort of drive me nuts (too 80's) but since I am Team UnTuck I guess I should have ignored since they wouldn't show anyway.

Love that description, Angie. My BF jeans actually nearly fell off the other day as I was walking around the house. Strange to feel your jeans heading south for your knees. They are now being washed and will get a thorough drying so they shrink back to size. Meanwhile, I will never leave home without a belt!

Christieanne, they are a simple 5 pocket style - no pleats. They were a fab find a few weeks ago.

Scarlet and Jamie, it's all about your "baggy sweet spot" that I mentioned earlier. Some will prefer my BJ jeans fit less or more baggy. It's so subjective.

I also actually REALLY like wearing low rises. Is that weird?

Oh exciting, the low crotch feels right this season as does the oversized. Will you pair these with the NAS sweaters?

Mine are very low, they just hang on my hip bones for dear life. I sized up 2 sizes nominally as I am usually between an 8 and a 10 so I got a 12. I have a very low crotch on them and as the day goes on the top and seat gets looser and the crotch lower! But I am really enjoying them. Thanks for recommending them to us!

Maybe once I get used to the BF jeans that "fit", I'll wanna take that slouchy look even further and get another pair a size up...you never know!

Ah. Jules, they are a Summer item for me so far so I'm not sure how to wear them for Autumn yet. Perhaps UNROLLED and tucked into shorter boots. Mega baggy. Could be fun! I *wish* they were long enough to wear as regular jeans too.

Will the regular-length Gap BF jeans work on petites? I'm not worried about the waist fit in a slouchy style, just the length and bulkiness of the roll. Website says that the regular length is 28" unrolled, just covering the ankle for me.

I got the regular length ones KL and I'm only 5'1". I did have to hack off about two inches off the bottom though so the roll wouldn't be so bulky.

I'm so glad you posted your thoughts about these, Angie. I tried them on and the sales clerk was trying to sell me on the smaller size, but I was more smitten with the larger size. I got stuck in a loop of indecision

Completely agree on the baggy sweet spot. I have a few different pair and I actually love the feeling of the ones that bag more as they make me feel like I lost weight. I realize I probably LOOK larger, but mentally it's freeing. I really look forward to how you style BF jeans Angie.

I actually have 3 pairs now in 3 sizes - 2, 4 and 6. The 6 is a size up from my usual size and fits like yours. The 4 is slouchy but not overly so, and the 2 is just slightly so. And I love all of them for different looks.

Ahh... I am interested to see this. My matchsticks aren't super tapered, but I could see tucking them into short boots if they fit. I can't wait to see how you style them - dropped crotch makes me feel very butch, which I definitely don't like, but somehow I know you will still look ladylike and pristine, Angie.
