My new title should be Queen Lemming

It has been a week of imitation and emulation but I may have taken it a bit too far. I am going to blame it on my lack of sleep, okay?

First, I have so enjoyed seeing all of Maneera's outfits with peplum tops that I started thinking maybe I need to get one. I have one in the closet but think it might be a bit snug and its a knit. I ordered the one shown in Pic 1 from ebay. It is a silk charmeuse EF in graphite. I plan to wear it to create an inspired by outfit of this pic. Has anyone seen it in person? I ordered a M and hope it fits my short-waisted body.

Next up, I saw the lovely green top from Zara that Viva posted. Yup, it is on its way too. It really is pretty and will work with a lot of my closet. Viva gave me some help in choosing the size. Thanks Viva

I ran into a friend at the mall and was telling her how amazing a lace top looks with olive cargos and yup, off I went and bought a sheer lacy sweater to go with the olive.

I am pretty sure there is one more but my mind won't grab onto it to include. I may have to amend later to add it in.

I also ordered a pair of animal print pointy toe flats because Beth the blogger wore them in one of the inspiration outfits and it made me want a pair. Since I was ordering those, I figured what the heck, and ordered another pair (or two).

Anyone else have control issues lately?

Dianthus, I fell off the proverbial restraint wagon today. Nothing too spendy - but so counter to where I think my wardrobe is going! After my regular overhaul at the estheticians, I 'popped' into a summer 'pop-up' store in my town. A New Zealand 'ethical' designer who works with women's sewing co-operatives, etc. I indulged in two of my fringe fashion passions - the colour purple (which I am constantly fighting/denying) and a boho print.

The dress is very kind in a DVF wrap kind of way. My justification was that it would be a great 'resort' dress for our annual late winter get-away, but, I am already strategizing how to wear it to work next week!

FWIW, I'm also going to copy cat you copy acting MsMary with the olive pants. She did black check, and you did blue. I don't have check, but I have blue stripe!

I lost my mind in July - and my bank account is evidence of that. Not wearing any of it though - at least not really - with this ridiculous heat we are having...I don't feel like wearing anything other than shorts and a tank top. I love olive and lace too - and your lacey sweater story reminds me I have an open-knit cream cotton thing from CM that I wore with olive cargos last summer/fall and quite liked it. Thanks for the reminder
The peplum top is gorgeous, if you can wear peplum tops. In EF though an M is pretty roomy - I would have guessed you'd wear a Small. I fit into ridiculously small sizes in that line so I know you would too.

Well, I actually love the Forum for doing some of my shopping for me! I'm not good at shopping...improving, but I don't have the patience for the endless search. If I see something fantastic on someone I consider that as really kind pre-screening. Maybe that feels better than saying lemming!

I recently bought a sweater that I loved on Firecracker. I so regretted not buying it last year when she posted lots of WIWs with this sweater on. At least it seemed like there were lots. I saw the sweater in a store in Hamilton when I was there and then was gone. Well I saw it last month deeply discounted (shhhhh) and grabbed it. So we are sweater twins.
I will probably buy jeans that Denise has if I can find them here.
So happy the other fabbers are pre-screening for me.

Hahaha...Cheryle....you cracked me up! I'm glad you ordered the peplum...I'm very sure that it is going to look gorgeous on you. Peplums are great for short-waisted hourglass figures when they hit at the right spot.

And just to prove you are not alone, I ordered a pair of pointy toe leopard print flat bellies too High Five! and if I could find them, I'm definitely buying olive pants! I've been on the hunt, but with no luck yet....

My friend spent the summer working for them and I know they have been summering over in Canada.

I am chomping at the bit for some new trousers, a new dress and probably some new shoes too.

Me!! Many control issues. I don't necessarily consider this bad though. I find WIWs to be far more helpful in deciding style directions than fashion magazines. These are real life women wearing clothes in real life situations. Many of those situations mirror my own life. If an ensemble looks fabulous on them, then I really have to review it closely to see if that same ensemble would fit into my life circumstances.

This is a great post because just last night I was putting away the laundry and I saw first hand how many items I owned that were first seen and inspired by WIWs. A shout out here to Janet for her Athleta capri pants. I wear them constantly during the summer. Yay Janet.

And Janet is only one of many. Joy has inspired me greatly. I now have a tiny capsule of tank tops inspired by Joy. There are many more examples, but I have to get ready for work.

Yes! I wasn't going to shop until September, and no more summer clothes. And then last week I ordered 2 summer skirts! What am I doing?

But one was a cheap clearance find I'd been stalking for a couple months, and the other is a tube skirt! Tube skirt! I've been seeing some fabbers wearing them and really loving the look. I think it will fill a hole in my warm-weather date night wardrobe. I can't wait to try it with a couple of my drapey tops (maybe front tucked).

Oh, and um...yeah. Also ordered some olive green soft cargo pants. So, there's that too. Geez.

Well I am glad I am not alone on this. Kerlyn I actually laughed when I read that you ordered olive cargo pants. I was driving to work this morning and remembered that I have another pair that are a bit narrower than the JCrew ones I've been wearing lately. I am going to dig them out of their hiding place so I have two pairs to wear with all the new stuff that should arrive soon.

I admit to purchasing two of my HEWI's - a dress, and a leather jacket, but I also purchased a fab pair of Oxblood color Aquatalia patent leather weatherproof monk strap Oxford shoes. I pre-ordered a pair of blue Aquatalia mid calf booties.

Shoes! Always shoes! Along with cashmere sweaters, they are my shopping downfall. So, I have to admit that I purchased a J Crew cropped cashmere sweater to wear with my high waisted jeans and pencil skirts. I love the color, Autumn Periwinkle.

It's not YLF lemming behavior, but I'm straying a bit from my fall/winter plan and need to get back on track!

:). Sometimes, seeing such awesome pieces so beautifully modeled by fellow fab bees can wash away the toughest resolve.

My only saving grace is fall will be here for real n a few weeks, two, maybe three if we're lucky, so summer purchases hold no sway. Saving for winter wright cashmere. *sigh*

So now I am thinking about a cropped cashmere sweater to wear with the giraffe print skirt. *sigh*
