My new haircut

I finally got my hair cut today! She did refresh the layers, but had to cut more in the back because the ends looked fairly bad. My sister took this one picture, I'll post some better ones next weekend when I have my own camera again. It always looks different directly after a cut anyway. The back is still a bit longer than the length you can see. It's not as 'choppy' as I wanted it to be, but I think it looks alright. I think I need a different stylist for a cut that is more edgy...

(Also some pics of my sister's haircut - I finally convinced her to cut it a bit, she also now has some strands framing her face. She looks great!)

Thanks Texstyle! Not exactly edgy, I thought about making it choppier than it is now. Edgy isn't a good description I guess, because my waves always look soft and kind of romantic.

Thanks Claire! No, her hair is naturally straight like that. I have my dad's hair and she has a mix of my mum's (structure) and grandma's hair (color). My brothers have a mix of both my mum and dad, one has straight and ashblonde hair, the other has curls like me but darker hair.

Hi Astrid --

Love the results of movin' on up [lengthwise!] -- IMO the new cut does an even better job of setting off your face shape and waves than the last chop.

As a wavy-hair myself, I'm trying to interpret your comments about wanting more choppiness. Qs:

*Do you have pics of others' cuts you like?

* I know you had/have some shorter pieces in the front -- do you (think you) want more layers cut in?

*Is it layered in the back at all?

I have a lot of layering in back as it just seems to keep the bulk at bay (thick hair, coarse waves).

My front is generally cut to be have the front-most hit between cheekbone and jawline then get gradually longer depending on overall length I want. Like your current cut, it just looks kind of blendy in the front, but that's what I'm going for. Not sure if it would work on you or more importantly is what you want, but see below for some shots.

[Probably some I shared last time you got your cut -- no yawning. ;)]

Personally even with product I don't a particularly "choppy" look except when my entire cut is above the jawline -- but you might be able to get that with product. Have you experimented with various types of goop?

Thank you so much everybody! It still looked good on day two, so everything's great so far.

Thanks for your pictures Vix. I'm not sure I want more layers in the front, the lengths are quite different already. And it's layered in the back and that's a good thing. Like you said, it keeps it from being too bulky. I like definitely lie cuts with some different lengths and shorter or longer strands. But the waves always make it look kind of soft and I guess it would be too much work to get it to look really choppy. And maybe that's not the right term. I don't use much product, so I haven't tried anything with it yet. I have one picture that I like the vibe of, but it's much shorter than I really want to go. I'm not sure how you would translate that into longer hair....

Hi again Astrid --

While I'm the anti-hair expert, I'll say that I've never gotten the look in your inspiration photo without having my cut about the same length and using a wax or paste.

Doesn't mean you can't get it when hair is longer, though!

I think you may want to talk to stylists about a "piecey" look. I am 99% percent product will be involved.
