You all sure know how to boost a gal up. Thank you so much for your suggestions, advice, questions and compliments. As individual as this journey is, I don’t feel alone.
Jenni NZ, I like your comment about feeling more authentic. I do, too, although it took me 30 years to get me feeling ok to let my authenticity show. I do think that once the color has grown out I will try a shorter sassy cut. I know I have to be ready, just as I was when I finally decided to embrace my gray. Shorter hair is more work for me because my hair is thick, has a lot of brave wave and tends to frizz.
Jussie, yours is a good question! I have only studied colors that I can still wear with my changing hair. I have not stopped to really study if some colors make my hair appear more, or less yellow. That will be a new focus for me.
Unfrumped, I have been tempted to hasten this process by having a short cut, but my hair does not usually behave well. I think I need one big change at a time.
Laura, in most cases, I do think nature knows what she is doing. I may have been slow to agree with her in the past. Even when I get pangs of impatience, I am glad I started this journey. I do think it would have been easier if I had allowed myself to go gray gradually.
Robin F I think you will know if/when you are ready to go gray. I tried it once before and didn’t last more than 5 weeks. I just wasn’t ready.
Joy, your hair is gorgeous, so I am hoping I can follow your lead and get there, too! Most people see, to really like me as a blonde/gray. My daughter thinks my hair is pretty, but she would be thrilled to see me as a brunette again. She likes it when we look alike.
Thank you Angie. My stylist gets the credit. She has been amazing and held my hand through this process. The number one focus has been on hair health and I think the shine of healthy hair can only help as my color continues to change.
Nancy W, yes, thank goodness for scheduled appointments and small adjustments!
