Thanks everyone! We still need to sign a contract next week and I guess there is still a chance this could disappear if another offer comes along. My excitement may be premature. This year has been awful and I’m not sure there won’t be a nasty surprise. I hope I didn’t jinx myself by sharing it, but I AM excited. The rational part of me thinks we will sign.
notsaf, no more mirror in the lobby! No more lobby either, just. Hallway from the street to the door.
NancyW, we would have taken a fixer upper, but in Bed-Stuy everything available is either new/newly renovated, or needs to be stripped to the studs. We didn’t want to do that much work. We did look at renovated older buildings but they all had something awkward or other about the space, as beautiful as they were.
nemosmom, yes interest rates were why we won’t wait. The mirror can be in any number of places. It nice to have a choice of here to put things, for once. My current home tends to have only once place where something can feasibly go.
Jules the room with two closets is meant to be the master, but we don’t want it to be. It’s the upstairs route to the yard, and the headboard of the bed would be against a large window. That seems a waste. That room will be my study, but I do get those closet. The other bedroom is barely smaller, and my husband can take that WIC. We also found out the finished basement has more storage than we thought.
Runcarla - ha! I need a new desk, but maybe then the mirror!
Angie - our cats don’t like dogs! But maybe someday.
Suz, yes I’m definitely thinking I will work from home indefinitely as my org won’t force any of us to come back any time soon. Even once we do go back, I may negotiate to spend at least one day a week at home. I’m due to become my team’s manager next year so I ave some leverage at this point.
