We have an accepted offer on a new home in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.* My husband had never wanted to leave Manhattan before he relied how much space we can get in Brooklyn. I always thought it would be too hipster for me, but Bed-Stuy, while gentrifying, still feels like a real person neighborhood. We will miss the UWS but this is the right call for us.

The inspection I today but I expect we will be able to go to contract. The building is 6 years old and has been remodeled just now.

We are moving from a 450 sq ft one bedroom to a 1600 sq ft duplex with a yard/patio. This is a big change! There are two walk-in closets. We won’t have much work to do except buying new furniture over time. My husband wants to make his work space look like a Victorian library someday.

Here are some pics I took when I visited before. I will have more later. Obviously it’s been staged by the RE agents. We need to plan how to make the yard nice, but since e probably can’t move until November (NYC red tape) it won’t be till next year. This is a first floor corner space—we will need some shades!

*I know it’s rather obnoxious that we can buy during a pandemic. Fortunately we have kept our jobs, and they seem rather safe; we’ve been saving for years to do it around now, so we are proceeding. My husband is an excellent manager of his money, so all credit to him really. The pandemic has shaped our choice of more space and a yard, hence Brooklyn. Hey, at least we are not feeling the city as many have done.... we are done with sticking it out in this tiny space, though!
