My first WIW!

Hello everyone! This is my first WIW and first post in the forums. It's been fun to browse over the last few days waiting for my membership to become active.

I live in the southern US, where it's already hot (90 Farenheit, about 30 for the Celsius folks). It's also humid, and it's going to be like this until September. So this is what I wore to run errands today, when I'd be in and out of air conditioned shops as well as outside.

I'm happy for any feedback or suggestions, ideas, etc. The jeans are rolled bootcut, not real boyfriend jeans so I'm curious if you think they work or not. Thanks for looking!

Congrats, Ivy. Welcome, and it's great that you're participating on this forum by posting an outfit.

(It's blissfully warm here too - almost 30 degrees - and I LOVE it).

The gauzy cardi is super over the fun tee, and fab for your weather. The white Birkies are super cute too. The jeans look like a good fit, although they look a little thick at the cuffs. Hack the length and either wear them just like that, or cuff them.

Cute! That tee is fun. I really like your birkies too. Have you tried a walk short/bermuda short? Could be a breezier alternative to the boyfriend jeans for summer!

Welcome, Ivy. Your graphic tee is fun! I'm amazed you can wear a sweater in that heat but I do understand the evils of air conditioning make it a real challenge to dress!

Welcome! Nice lacey cardi, a great topper for warm weather + battling AC. Love the white birkies with this outfit. I see the same as Angie, the cuffs on these look a bit heavy because of the extra length; if they're not jeans you wear much any more I vote chop off with enough room to roll once or twice.

Welcome Ivy! I live in South Georgia so I can related to your struggles with heat and humidity. I think you've created a super cute casual look. I would love to see this look after you take Angie's suggestion of cutting off length on the jeans.

Hi and welcome! I agree with the others on maybe cutting off the jeans a bit so they won't have such a heavy roll (I cut off mine all the time to make shorts I can roll). Living in Texas I have to keep a jacket in the car for the cold AC myself!

(I like the suggestion for altering the jeans, I bet that will feel lighter in the heat too.)

Great look Ivy. I like your T shirt and Birks. I would also vote for hacking off your jeans to ankle length and cuffing them.

Welcome, Ivy! Another shout out for your fab combo of gauzy top and novelty tee --- a modern, fab, reworking of a 90's look. The white birkies say "Summer's here!" just like the white Keds I use to buy on the last day of school each year.

Do you have one or two fashion goals for your hot southern summer?

What a fab foray into WIWville you gave us: All the elements are well chosen and I love the white of the Birkenstocks and gauzy topper to summerise the look. Agree with others on the jeans.

Thank you all for saying hi and sharing your thoughts. I cut off the jeans this morning and I really like how they cuff better now. Kimlee, I'll try to get a picture this week with the new cuffs! I wore them out to a movie today. Laura, they don't breathe well, but they're warm enough for overly air conditioned buildings, so it's a balance.

Beth Ann, I don't have any style goals for summer. That's some great food for thought; I'll definitely be considering it this week. Thanks for getting me started on thinking about it. And I was definitely going for a 90s feel with this outfit so I'm glad that came across!

Welcome Ivy! Great first WIW, I love your tee and breezy cardigan. I am an oddball that wears toppers in hot weather because I'm always freezing when I get in any A/C, so I understand.

Welcome, Ivy. Love your t-shirt and cardigan! I hope you post more for us. Jeans + graphic tee + cardigan is one of my favorite formulas. I live without AC, so I don't get to use it all that much in the summer.
