Angie's post, and the the forum thread on the same thema of edginess it was a real food for thought to me. Like you all aknowledged one has to find their's own edginess factors.
Today I am wearing one outfit wich feels to be one of my edgy ones. So, let's see:
Skirt is from this fall, a brown and taupe gingham, and strechy tube, with a black leather trimmed assimetrical split on front side-love it as is very comfy and consider it the most edgy piece in this outfit.
Then, there are black opaques and midcalf suede boots with a block 2" heel, and an almond toe, from last year.
I got this black satin trimmed neckline ribbed tee for several years from one of my SIL who is brunette and wore naturally a lot of blacks, but I never wore it, as felt too big and too long, too black and too high neckline back then when everybody wore shorter strechy items. Now, that I learned how to wear more blacks without feeling owerhelmed I suddenly dig it out, and so it proves to be a workhorse, esp. for shopping days, under my trench. It's cotton, so keeps me cool but covered indoors and I love it is long and fluid enough on my torso for nowadays trends, and curent(more mature) body shape. Plus, the satin trim on neck has an almost leather look and feel:-)
I use to wear my white chuncky watch and a silver chocker and pendant almost daily, but the neckline was too high and beeing trimmed already the chocker came off. +(all time silver studs in place)
For outdoors I wore a bold bl&cream scarf(also new) with my black wool coat and mustard yellow bag(from fall).
So, as a conclusion, I think my edge is:
-wearing black despite beeing a low contrast girl and creating a bold contrast with it and other neutrals
-color blocking
-leather or leather trim
-geometric/abstract patterns (prefferable of a medium scale)
-minimal jewelery (and then, it has to be rather one chunky piece)
-comfy footwear for allowing a brisk walk.
Bonus pictie of wiw on the NYE at a nightclub party with DH and friends:
-strechy sequin skirt with opaques and suede heeled ankle booties (kept me warm and able of brisk walking on the coblestones for catching the firework at midnight)
-bl&w satin mixed media graphic tee(place was named "Faceroom", so my tee was like done for purpose, but I it was only a coincidence:-)).,
-black jacket(folded sleeves, as ever)
-and silver-sparkle trimmed party sunnies, bought on the street that night, for fun!. Other friends and hubby have had various silly hats(pirate, police) on and even krampus horns(a girlfriend:-)).
And a pictie with my super yummy selfadhesive fake nails! I never have the time to propperly do mines, so it was a treat to have them done in no more than 1 minute! Thanx Rae for introducing me the self adhesive fake nails sometime last year-I really love them occasionally!
We had lot of fun and felt this outfit was edgy, too.
Question: -Do these 2 outfits show a bit of edge to your eyes, too?
Phew, thanx for reading so far! (and commenting, always appreciated:-))
