2024: Teaberry

I'm getting caught up and just read Angie's lovely post about her word and colour for 2024.

I have been mulling this over already. In past years I've chosen a word. This year I don't have one yet.

However... I do have a colour focus. I would love to find more teaberry, chartreuse, and other interesting yet more rare dark autumn colors.

Teaberry looks rather pink or a bit spring season. But it's in the TCI fans and I really would love to find it and see if it's good on me. Plus, I love corals and the right pinks for me. So... we shall see if it finds me in 2024.

I once owned teaberry. Photo 3 is buttons from J. Crew pants I owned in then early 2000s. I still miss them. They were perfectly fitted on my hips, then gently and gradually widened to a full, wide leg. And... they were a sensational warm pink-red color, as evidenced by the buttons.

If it doesn't pop up, I might look for more DA greens, both green and cool.

What I’d call Watermelon, and sometimes there is a more coral version.

Ooh so *that's* what this colour is called! I've just been using deep salmon/ coral, but that's not quite right...
It's a shade I gravitate towards in makeup, since some blushes can look too pastel or fuchsia pink on me otherwise (if you're interested, it's the Clinique cheek pop in 'ginger pop').

I'm sure teaberry looks gorgeous on you too! will join you on the chartreuse side quest too

April as a child, a local store stocked Clark’s tea berry gum. But I never could get my mom to buy it for us. So burning question: what did it taste like?? I’m so curious.

Rachy, Christie, BlueJay, Suz, Cardiff thank you dearly ladies!! I’ve always struggled with winter’s fuschias and such. I want to love them but they never felt right on me, neither as clothes or lipstick. This color just feels right to me—even though I have yet to see it again in retail. I’m super duper excited to see if I graciously end up with why in 2024. <3

Angie oooooh! That’s a great color label to use as I search for it! I also found lychee is a bit similar to the color too? I have a feeling teaberry is rarely used in retail clothing names ha!

Zaeobi I too was having difficulty find the color. I knew what I wanted but couldn’t find the name. Don’t ask me how, but one day recently the color teaberry just popped out of my mouth. I googled teaberry. Shock and delight! There it was! I also find some color variations of lychee are close. And watermelon, as Angie mentioned, is another word to search for. Hopefully we will wear it this year! I’ll still be keeping an eye out for DA greens, cool and warm.

This is a great colour! A very "grown up" pink. I agree with you that it looks great paired with greens -- olive, mallard, forest... And that outfit with the mustard floral skirt looks fantastic! Interesting and unexpected. I bought a cashmere sweater in a slightly muted iteration of this colour last spring and really love pairing it with big olive or khaki pleated pants.

Be careful with color shifts with teaberry! I wore this top yesterday and it really bugged me. Inside, the color is dead right, just the perfect rusty coral (as it appeared in the shop when I tried it on).
But outside...yikes :/ It looks Much brighter and Much pinker, more Summer for sure.

Bijou, have you found it in retail? I am hopeful. Also weak. I can see myself buying an item just for the color even if it isn't my size or style. :}

Helena, oh that's a great idea! I think I have a lipstick this exact color. (Sadly discontinued... ) I wonder if I can find it in a blush...

I can envision this color being fantastic on you. I like it, too, and those inspiration pics are gorgeous.

Looking at your color fan, I think I gravitate toward some Dark Autumn colors, although I'm pretty sure I'm cool-toned, probably some type of summer. I might have just bought a fabric that is teaberry. But maybe not; this color seems a little more muted.

I remember Teaberry gum, too. I think it was clove flavored.

Oh, Sharan! What a lovely color! I can't wait to see what you sew with it There is an interesting correlation between soft summer and dark autumn, oddly. I have confused a few soft season colors for dark autumn in the stores. When I get home, I'm surprised haha!

What do you think of Emma One Sock?? I've even wondering about ordering from them....

I like EmmaOneSock; I've been buying fabric from the site for a long time. Many years ago, she (the owner is Linda Podietz) sold Pantone shopping guides (a fan of colors, about 2" thick and 10" long) and I bought one. She includes the main Pantone colors in the fabric descriptions, which helps a lot. Here's a link to the fabric that should be public. I'm planning to make a cardigan. Even if you don't have the Pantone fan, she provides links to the colors, so you can see different depictions online.

Wow, Sharan! Her store sounds amazing. I'll definitely buy from her in the future!! Thank you for the information. I'm still practicing and getting my sewing wings under me. But I love that she gives links to the colors. I've looked at her site for literal years (that's how long I've dreamed about sewing and put it off ha). She always seems to have such amazing fabrics!

I love teaberry and remember the gum being on my favorites list. It seems like it was a clove flavor. My parents did not like gum chewing so I did not stock up except for plane trips. Who would know it would disappear. It is interesting it is a warm spring or fall color. It is also earthy. I like peach and hope to find some of that color this year. It has not been around for years.

Joy, I think peach will abound this year. Peach Fuzz is Pantone's 2024 color of the year. Their version is technically a light spring color. But I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of variations on peach. I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled and buying it as I'm able.

Oh that's so lovely about the gum!! I have heard it's a bit like clove in flavor. Supposedly it's still available online! No idea if it's as good as it used to be. But it's available online all over on Amazon, Walmart, and more. If you try it, let me know what you think!
