This outfit is one with a high happiness factor, to quote Angie. Maybe it's because it involves mostly new items, all of which I really like. Or because it's a little different for me, but not so different from my usual style that I felt uncomfortable or odd. The outfit with the cardigan, especially, is bright for me.

I don't wear a lot of florals, but the fabric of this t-shirt spoke to me. Perhaps it's all the Ted Baker talk and items floating around the forum lately, perhaps it was the colors, which I just want to devour, but whatever, I had to make this t-shirt.

Anyway, the outfit, work version (photos 1-3):

Mauve floral 3/4-sleeve t-shirt (made by me)
Dark denim pencil skirt with flat ruffles (Tribal)
Bright coral 3/4 sleeve cardi (Halogen)
Dark denim ballet flats w/ navy patent cap toe & tan belt (AGL)
Navy satchel w/ tan trim (Dooney & Bourke)
Olive slim anorak-style coat (Laundry by Shelly Segal)
Blue stone teardrop earrings
Silver and blue stone bracelet (Lucky)

After-work, at-home version (photo 4):
Same top, etc. with boyfriend jeans (Fidelity) and jeans belt with cutout designs (Fossil)

You made that t-shirt? Awesssssooome! Love the way the bright cardigan draws out the bright flecks of your top - and any outfit that has variations for work and play is a winner in my book

Oh wow! I SO love the fabric of that shirt, it's beautiful on you (I wish I could buy one ), and I love the interesting scale skirt and the color of the cardigan is perfect with it. I'd definitely repeat this.

That tee shirt fits beautifully! I love the print too. So fab! The bright cardi is a fun way of adding some pop and coordinates so well with the tee. LOVE the casual BF look too. The rolled hems are so cute. You are looking as fab as ever!

ETA: Do the Lippman nail polishes last any longer than say, OPI or Essie. I always look at them at Nordies but have never purchased.

Kelly, I do think the Lippmann nail polishes last longer than some. I had one on last week that lasted a full 7 days before any noticeable chipping. (That's a lot for me.) Essie might be comparable; I have one of those that I haven't worn in a while, but I don't recall being frustrated by it. I definitely prefer Lippmann over Butter. That said, I went in search of another Lippmann polish yesterday and came home with a Chanel to try--even more expensive! But I wanted the particular color, and the sales associate told me (of course) that they last well, because they are more gel-like and don't chip as easily. We'll see! I used to wear OPI all the time; I got away from them because of where I end up shopping, and I felt the polish itself didn't last that long (in the bottle) before turning colors.

Good to know, Firecracker. I may splurge one of these days DD's like Essie so that's what I usually buy but I feel like even with the top coat it doesn't last long enough to warrant keeping my nails painted. Let us know how the Chanel goes You can whip up another outfit post that matches the polish, please

I love the way your cardigan picks up the shades from your floral top, which is beautifully made BTW. You look great. Nice mani too.

I love the floral print on the tee. It really pops with the orange cardigan I also love the detailing on the skirt (sort of petal-like). The pattern seems to dress up or down very nicely. I love the contrast with your jeans. My favorite is #1 though.

I really like the top you sewed. It is so hard to find a floral and a fit I like... perfect solution! The cross ways detaining on the skirt is super fab too and I love how both combine to add lots of interest without being too much going on. The jeans outfit is really nice. The more tailored top is a great pairing with the BF jeans and I love seeing how our outfits morph as we move through out various tasks of the day. Well done!

You made the shirt? I am very impressed.
I think that although the outfit is a bit more bright than what you are used to,the floral pattern has some muted tones that even it out.
The outfit is fabulous, both work and casual versions.

The color combination is inspired. I love the cool mauve and navy with the warmer coral and how the print ties all together. Fabuloso.

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments and nice thoughts. I'll have to do more of the work-and-after-work looks. Usually if I've worn a skirt or nice pants to work, I'll change into jeans.

Day Vies, how clever of you; it didn't occur to me that the skirt design is petal-like. Perhaps that's part of why I liked it with this top.

Sarah, have you made t-shirts before? They can be pretty easy, and you're right, it's a lot easier to get what you want. (Though it can still be hard to find the right colors or fabrics, if you're looking for something specific!)

Lovely top, and it has so many possibilities. It's really nice on you with the bright sweater. AGL has denim ballet flats? What fun!
I have a friend who is a make-up artist and she gave me a Chanel nail polish. I told her that I hated to spend money on nail polish since we live in the desert and they all dry up before the season is out. She said, "Well that Chanel one is six years old." (!) It goes on like it's brand new. Ergo, I think you'll be pleased with your purchase.

JG, laughing at your comment, and thank you. Curiously enough, I bought the lip color last year when I got the cardi and a couple of other things in that bright coral, because my other lip colors didn't stand up to it!

Claire, I haven't seen you around here for a while! Thank you, and glad to hear that ringing endorsement of the Chanel polish. I'm waiting for this one to wear off before I try it out (and then do a matching outfit post with it, per kelly's request)

Angie, you're so sweet! I fell for the coral last year and even have an Eddie Bauer trench in the color. I thought I'd tire of it after a season, but it's a fun color to trot out again this year.

The cardi is such a fun happy colour. No wonder you were happy in this outfit. i especially like it with Bf jeans at home. Also, thanks for sharing the info about nail polish. I doubt this brand is available in Canada though.

I like the first pic with the bright sweater and your new shirt.

The shirt is great - has good length. The pattern goes well with many things... would also look good with a gray skirt or red jeans.
