My Annie Lennox fantasy...

I haven't been wearing my gold bomber jacket enough that I bought last August and yesterday, although winter, it was a little warmer so I wore it to the mall ( 4th wear) with the newish black cropped jeans ( 13th wear) and the studded Steve Madden boots from SF in 2013. They've now done 32 wears and a few of the studs are falling off, just looking a leetle tired. I got another super short pixie by the same stylist as last time and felt vaguely ageing rock chick! It felt fun anyway, different from my usual. Pic 1 is at the mall. Pic 2 is the haircut next day( today), no makeup. Thanks for looking.

Nice hairstyle. You can have fun wearing different earrings with it. You can wear, studs, dangles, costume and fine jewelry. Sorry you lost one as you told us in your previous post. I believe it is trending to wear different earrings in each ear. If it is not trending, do it anyway!

Ha Lozz and Shevia! I would never colour it but I had fun looking at old pics of her in the 80s when her hair was red and she had that androgynous look. And yes Bridgie can wear lots of earrings

I'd like the pixie with longer hair on the forehead - my personal preference for soft, rather than hard-edged, pixies.

I agree with skylurker regarding softening the look by wearing longer hair on the forehead - and perhaps at the ears/cheekbones, too. Pixies don't need to be super short. Those that are a little longer can be very flattering. Somehow, longer hair on the forehead and at the ears/cheekbones serve as pointers to the eyes, so that beautiful eyes, not a lot of skin, become the focus.

Well it will grow longer! Actually I asked her to do it slightly longer than last time in early May but I don't think she listened! Both times I've felt slightly like a shorn sheep but having it last at least 7 weeks before I got annoyed with it( and finally cut it at 9 weeks) was a benefit. I find it a hassle to have to go again in what feels like no time. Maybe I do like it slightly longer but then I wouldn't feel like Annie Lennox!

Ok, so it is important to look like Annie Lennox? Well, I just found some pictures of Annie Lennox where her hair is not super short. Why not show one of those pics to your hairdresser, for inspiration? In my experience, it can be easier to make your hairdresser understand your wishes if you have a picture to show.

If it doesn't, just search for pictures of Annie Lennox, and study the ones where her hair is a little longer. - Much softer and becoming for her adult face.

You will also be able to find other pics of grown-up ladies with soft pixies which may inspire you. A famous example of a lady with a gorgeous grey pixie is Jamie Lee Curtis.

Actually the link did work! Interesting then to see Google in a Scandinavian language. Thanks for that. I was joking about Annie Lennox really but I DO take pics of Jamie Lee Curtis with me to the hairdresser and that was what reminded that particular stylist that it had actually been her that had cut it 9 weeks earlier, because she remembered that pic. Jamie Lee is only about 4 years older than me. I have also had Judi Dench suggested as a pixie role model but since she is more like 30 years older than me I thought I wouldn't go there You are kind to help. The whole ageing rock chick thing was just for fun x

I actually think your hair works in this shape since your face is a perfect oval and it seems to be following your natural growth pattern (although admittedly, that is hard to tell and I'm not a hairdresser). Annie Lennox has more angular, longer face so she (like me) requires some fringe to soften it.

But you may be feeling frustrated with regrowth especially because it looks to be almost all one length. When I first got rid of my dye I was in a similar situation. And you would also look great with a slightly softer pixie. It's a matter of personal preference.

In my own experience, even when I take photos to the hairdresser (a great idea) it can require some discussion to convey to the stylist what I'm aiming for, because she has to work with my hair type, hair growth pattern, and face shape. When looking for inspiration, I often try to find a few pics of people whose faces are a similar shape. Even if the hair colour is different -- if the cut and face shape are like mine, that will give the message to the visual stylist.

And Suz, your comments are so kind and insightful. That was actually one of the very first things I commented when I became a member 3 months ago (after having lurked for years). I hope you noticed. (Unfortunately, I don't remember the title of the actual forum post.)

Anne Lennox is so cool and you look terrific in both pics. It is fun sometimes to experiment with different personas-I occasionally imagine I am a 1940s film star.then I do another load of laundry lol!
