MOTG: First attempt at skinny jeans and tall boots- Keep or return??

Hi all,

This is the first time I have tried this combo which I have always been scared off previously. What do people think? Does it show off my saddlebags too much?

Does the fit look right? I'm not sure the boots are the right length- when I've tried this out at home before I always think my knees look odd with the jeans tucked in- I'm just not sure my legs are long enough or the right shape for this look?

Opinions please as I just can't give an objective opinion on myself in clothes- although hubby loves the look on me!

I like this! A lot.

With the jacket and scarf (you too want to be a lemming, right?), your pretty pear shape will be balanced by the top part of the outfit... but who cares anyway. I say Love your curves!

And by the way, I do not see "saddlebags." I see strong thighs. Be proud of them!

Re the boots height: it looks okay, maybe on the slightly tall side. How tall are you and how long are your legs? If you are on the shorter side, you can look for boots that have a shorter shaft in future.

I think you look great in these jeans.
Are the boots new? If so, I'm inclined to encourage you to keep looking. They seem a bit tall and wide in the shaft. If they are your old faithfuls, then they certainly work... don't get rid of them.

The boots are new as well. I do like them but tend to agree that they are a bit too long and a bit too wide around the top. I do have short legs and have never found boots that look right.

I can;t imagine wearing the skinny jeans without boots though so maybe I should return them as well until I find the perfect boots?!

no, keep the jeans.. they are great. You'll find boots. Not sure what your price point is for boots, but zappos carries a ton, and you can narrow your search results based on shaft height and circumference to help weed out the ones that won't work.

FWIW, shopping for boots is never quick and easy. It takes time to find the right ones. Don't give up.
What is your measurements around your calf at the widest point, as well as the length of your calf from the floor to about an inch under your knee? Maybe someone here can point you in the right direction.

Length= 13.5" and circ= 14" - if anyone could direct me that would be great! I'm looking at the zappos website now (thanks) - what an easy to use site for boots!

I'm in the UK though so not sure I could get them shipped without costing a fortune! Plus they are all out of my price range

You will find your perfect pair of boots, never fear! Hoping some of the UK members will chime in here.

FWIW, my legs are on the short side also and my calves are wider than average. I have found good luck with some of the Clarks styles and I know you can get those in the UK.

Have you checked Duo on your side of things? They sent some fab boots to me and go by calf measurement.

No saddlebags - once you get the hang of skinnies it will become an easy go-to outfit!

I agree the boots are nice but not perfect for you. My calves are similar dimensions and I find boots tagged "midcalf" seem to hit nicely on me, the way tall boots are supposed to.

Duo is great. A lot of their boots are too tall but they give measurements so you can check.

I have actual saddlebags and a 40cm seat/hip measurement, plus short legs, and although I do wear boots with skinnies, I get the best legline by pairing them with shoes with the highest heel I'm comfortable with.

Keep the jeans!

I've had great luck with Clarks for my large calves. I have shorter legs too, and I look for boots that are around 14" high. For us ladies with shorter legs, it's all about the proportions - but when you get it right, you'll live in this look for the cool weather!

Agree with the others that you can definitely wear this look and that the jeans fit great! I also think the boots are a bit tall in the shaft, which makes them wider across the opening. Finding the perfect shaft+opening is a bit of work but is totally worth it

Wow - your jeans are a fantastic fit. Where are they from? I'm in the UK too & I find Clarks boots really fab - comfy & loads of different styles. If you shop online & subscribe to their newsletter there's quite often a discount offer on - I think it's 25% off at the moment and their delivery/returns service is second to none. I bought a knee length black pair a few years ago and I wear them virtually every day for work from Autumn onwards & they still look brand new with the occasional polish from the husband

I think you look great in this style. The jeans are great...but I agree that the boots are a bit big around the top. It's a hassle, but finding the right fit is key.

The jeans are from Dorothy Perkins- 2 pairs for £25! I bought the blue pair shown in the photos and the same style in black, which I actually prefer.

I had a quick look at Clarks website and I know they are really good quality but they are all a little out of my price range just before christmas!

I'd like an interim pair that are slightly cheaper to wear while I save some money towards a really nice pair! With all the advice I have received here I know I can find a killer pair to invest in once I have the money saved

Keep the jeans, they look great! I can empathize with your dilemma. I have short legs, too, and have yet to find the right boots to go with skinny jeans.

What does everyone think of this pair of mid calf boots? Would the turn over shorten my legs? One of the reviews for these says that these were like knee high boots on her and she was my height so although it doesn't state the shaft height I'm going to assume they would sit nicely just under my knees rather than any lower or higher.

Shall I order them....?

Thanks for the jeans info, I don't know why but I rarely shop at Dotty P's. 2 pairs for £25 is a bargain & they really look great on you so I'll be giving them a try. Love your new boots choice, I say order them.

The jeans look awesome. I see no saddlebags, but I see some gorgeous curves! (I have very few curves, so I am jealous of those who have them!)

About the boots you found...I too fear that the flap at the top would further shorten your legs. As for the shaft height, if there is a way to get the exact shaft height in your size, I would do so. If you are ordering direct from a boot maker, you could e-mail them and ask for the exact info. It's so much work to order stuff and then have to return it when it doesn't work. And it is an emotional downer too.
