More weekend blues. 6/21/25

My spring and summer love affair with all things blue continues. It was Staysfit's experiment with AI colour analysis that gave me permission to love the blue pieces I have and to wear them more confidently. I had one of my coworkers (the two of us fell down a major rabbit hole at work one morning recently when we should have been doing actual work) use her paid AI to produce a colour palette using the chroma numbers (am I using the right terminology here?? lol) from my skin, hair and lips . Utterly fascinating.

As I've mentioned many times before, my weekend wardrobe does not resemble nor cross over from my work week clothing, and that's ok. During the week I wear only black, (with the odd touch of red here and there as it's one of our corporate colours ) and experiment with some more fashion-forward/ trendy looks : tonal, architectural, some really athletic looks, but also some dressy looks with a blazer and a dress. My footwear reflects that part of my style persona too.

But weekends let me indulge in some colour and a softer look than I usually sport during the week. I usually forgo accessories unless I'm headed out to dinner or some occasion, and makeup is minimal .

This cotton/linen top has become an absolute favourite. It does NOT crease at all, has a great dry hand-feel, and is comfortably slouchy. It also works with every casual bottom I own, although I love it best with tonal light wash jeans. I love it so much I duplicated it in black These are new-this-summer (first wear was today) barrel jeans and the sandals are an old/but sudden new workhorse . I switched the jeans out for long loose denim bermudas for the rest of the day - super hot , windy and smoky here, ugh. Nothing like being shut up inside the house on a summer day - grr.

I don't have a great set-up for taking photos : the full-length mirror is directly opposite the window which is a south/west full-on sun exposure, and the bedroom does not have overhead lighting. Hence the top part of my body fading out in photos. And the reason why I'm including a photo of my face and shoulders , not because I'm so enamoured with my face, lol.

Anyways, not sure why my posts require so many disclosures .....

Looks lovely, Lisa. I love soft blue on you. Coincidentally, I love soft blue on me, too. But I have only a few pieces.

You do suit blue well! I think you would be a soft summer or a soft autumn but I could be wrong.

You do suit a sporty modern look too so I can see why wearing that at work and a softer look in the weekend could be fun. I know it’s not always easy though.

Irina - the bag is not as useful as it looks . It doesn’t go over the shoulder all that well and everything falls to the bottom . The handles are often twisted and tangled when I put it down . Glad it was not at all expensive !

Glad you're having fun with AI colour theory! Did they suggest you were an Autumn of sorts? That would be my guess.

Thanks Angie - these barrels are perfect . Not too “out there “. My own attempt with free AI and a basic picture from my phone had me as a soft summer . The more sophisticated approach using chroma numbers had me as a soft spring . I’m not sure about that last one , as most of the spring colour palette leaves me cold , metaphorically . Soft summer is closer to the autumn I always thought I was, and it opened the door to colour options I wasn’t considering . I’ve worn SO much spice , olive , orange etc for the past few years I’m a little tired of it . Enjoying blues for now

That is a great top, Lisa, and such a gorgeous color on you. The whole outfit looks terrific. The barrel jeans are just right for you--nice find! Too bad about the bag's lack of functionality. It does look awfully cute on the bed. ha!

You look lovely in blue! The barrel jeans are a great shape and length and the neutral footwear looks comfortable and pairs well with this outfit. It also bookends your blonde hair! How fun!

I sympathize with taking outfit photos. I am always running around outside trying to find good lighting for WIWs. Then when I finally get a good spot the next day it's cloudy, or I am outside at a different time of day than previously, and I have to start all over again finding a good spot.

I agree the barrel jeans look great, easy fit but not crazy/ barrel- y, which makes them work with your top but not be too much volume together.

Super cute outfit! I especially like the blue with your eyes! Was that a Chatgpt you used? I'm not 100% sure I'd trust it...it'll give you some wonky stuff sometimes. Your skin tone appears warm to me...I haven't studied color analysis but my guess is soft autumn. I have a friend who has a color analysis business and insists you can't really come to a conclusion without the draping.

I sympathize with your photo situation -- it sounds precisely like mine. All the full length mirrors in this house are facing windows so it''s near impossible to get a good picture -- in winter it's too dark no matter what I do and photo editing only goes so far, and in summer, the light streams in and makes me next to invisible.

Ah well. Maybe in my next residence....or maybe one day I will set up the old tripod again, LOL.

I'm not about to start taking photos outside nor am I setting up a tripod - there's only so much I'll do here, lol. I'll just do my best to fumble along when the lighting allows.

Dana- yes! It was ChatGPT, paid and free versions. My skin tone does look warm, or at least I thought it was, but Chat suggested otherwise (that I had more pink undertones than yellow). I experimented with some pink toned cream foundation and it blended in quite miraculously, so I'm not sure. I'm just going with the flow and not redoing my entire closet or makeup collection at this point ;).

And thanks all for the kind comments about the jeans- I cannot believe the price difference from the stock photo (taken off of some US store that carried them) and the Cdn price I paid. These were not exactly inexpensive jeans and yet they look like it in US $.

Great outfit! Love the barrel jeans and agree that the blue really works for you. I have the same issue with mirror location and lighting. So even when I remember to take a picture the lighting is way off

That bag is so fun, too bad it doesn't work well. I wonder also about some sort of lining. It wouldn't help with the straps twisting but might keep the insides more useful.

I think you look pretty in blue but also thought the spicy tones suited you. I don’t pay too, too much attention to what the experts say about color, but I know I look much better in a cool palette and pretty much stick with that. You’ve got a nice summery look going on here and I like it.

Well I love everything about this. The colour, the shapes and the vibe are perfection. It's the style I associate you with, that look a deep breath and exhaled ... Relaxed but still with the intention and detail I associate with you, if that makes sense!

Not to belabor the color conversation, but it seems to be that the connom denominator is "soft" so it makes sense you could dip into the softer side of many palettes!
