More matchy masks and a denim first

I've been at my job for 15 years and have made it a point of pride never to wear denim to the office. But when the pandemic hit The Powers That Be issued a casual dress code that specifically permitted jeans, and today I threw caution to the winds and thought "what the heck?" (It's hot outside but the a/c is frigid.)

In other news, I am continuing to entertain myself by trying to be as matchy-matchy as possible with my mask game!

Anybody else have any new fashion tricks in these trying times?

I have worn my dark navy jacket to the office once as part of the smart casual appearance of recent weeks. I’ve worn my trainers a lot too. As of 1st Sept I’m back in heals and tights. Yay!

i definitely try to coordinate masks with whatever I’m wearing. The rest of the time I have a neutral buff around my neck for impromptu neighborhood dog walks.

My main sartorial mission is to wear all the clothing I own with zippered pockets. I’ve only carried a handbag a couple of times since March. I love being completely hands free.

Mary, to answer your question:

I think I’ll wear fashion sneakers to future client meetings, thereby embracing the business casual and smart casual look with a polished pair of sneakers. Previously I had a rule: no sneakers when working with clients unless I’m shopping the NAS and on my feet for 14 hours. But since my sneaker style is non-athletic, crisp, simple, and I keep them very clean, I’m going for it. Why not! The world has changed forever, and part of me has changed with it.

Without regular social interactions, travel, and events, I’m looking for sensory stimulation as well as entertainment. Rather than descend into ‘sloblivion’ and ‘pyjamafication’ (thank you nuancedream) I’m more obsessed with fashion, clothes, and personal presentation!

Since I sew, I can kit myself out with face coverings that co-ordinate with my clothes, and do a refresh if they get tired looking. I’ve made a concerted effort to have non-boring face coverings.

I’ve also started painting my nails! Pedi’s aren’t new for me, but mani’s are. Since I talk with my hands (French coming out!?) I like the drama colourful nails adds to masked interactions. Furthermore, it’s inspiring me to take better care of my hands.

#6 2 week old mani-pedi. I scraped the polish off my right second toe whilst wearing flip flops, but had thrown away the blue polish (my favourite) thus one wayward ‘piggy’ touched up with red!

Caution to the winds - that makes me smile! You rock everything you wear, and your casual looks are no exception.

I'm all about the RipSkirts this summer. I just modeled one on Zoom for one of my co-workers. I would wear these to an internal company quarterly sales meeting in California, say, if that ever were to be a thing again. More casual than in the past, for sure.

Opposite of Carla - I've given up all nail polish. My toenails hadn't seen the light of day for a long time when the pandemic hit, but even though I've recently gotten my first pedicure since March, I've decided to keep it all natural. Definitely have simplified everything.

Kelly, I was never a boho lover but I do love this new-this-year red print top.

Jane, I would never be caught dead without a jacket in The Before Time, but I just returned two jackets I'd ordered from the NAS because they just seemed to belong to an alternate universe!

Classically casual, I've always been a "bag lady," but I only go to the office and the grocery store so I've been carrying the same white bag all summer long. Would love to give it up altogether.

Mary, your outfits are works of art. Like Angie, I love the 1st outfit most but the second is close.
Runcarla, your new masks in the first photo look like they are made with a different pattern. How do you like them? You do beautiful work.
Laurie, my nails are much healthier since I have stopped polish. They can get really long. All the hand washing means my hands are not fit to be seen or to draw attention to. Rip skirts are a great summer look. I would like to wear one every day.

I love the dressy blouses with the pants and skirt. It just looks fancy somehow, which suits you.

Lovely outfits! Can't chose a fav - it's all of them !
Just admiring white cropped pants with silver shoes on you ( I miss my old cropped white jeans...).
I wish I can do different masks but I have mandatory black one for work and usual blue for the rest.

So good - rules (even personal ones) are made to be broken, and you've done so with your signature style and polish. Love the masks.

My little 'game' is to wear lipstick or gloss when I go out, even though I know for sure it's going to smudge on my mask and not be seen anyways ... lipstick has always been my way of thumbing my nose at difficulty and Covid is not going to be the challenge that breaks me ha!
