More hot weather dressing with a limited wardrobe

Thought I'd again recreate some of my recent looks, I didn't have time to take pics at the time because I've been busy. These were all worn on hot days for running errands, university or meeting up with friends (no work outfits).

#1-2
Not my current style anymore. But it works well in the heat and I don't have many options, so I'm still wearing this combination.

#3-4
Really like this one. Simple and no fuss.

#5-6
Although this dress is black, it's actually super comfortable and breezy on very hot days. I only wear it for staying at home or running errands though.

#7-8
Remember I said I had no tops to wear with this skirt? I tried this on a whim and I really like the combination of the full skirt and the peplum. And the colors go well together.

#9-10
This skirt is now a real midi on me. I like the look of this, but I had to fuss too much with the knotted wrap skirt and the knotted blouse to be really comfortable.

I really like the combo in 7/8! You wouldn't think a peplum would work with a full skirt but somehow it does and is great!

My favorites are 3/4 (perfect casual for a hot day) and 7/8 (you really make this work!). Isn't it great ti try something unexpected and tada! Like magic, it works!

#3-4 is so simple but so simply *you* and in a great way

My first reaction to #5 (before I read that description) was that I loved it on you. It has a new vintage feel to me, as does the peplum and full skirt.

You are looking stylish and very happy.

Thanks Texstyle! I'm never going to purge that black dress because it was my mum's, but I do feel that it's a bit too "casual" for university, never mind work. I think it's the cut with the gathered empire waist. Also, this dress can make me look pregnant, I had people offering me a seat wearing this dress. I do think you could wear this with quite a bump...

What about 1/2 isn't your current style? I love the look of a denim vest over a sleeveless top, cheeky. 3/4 is my fave, as you said simple and no fuss, but also super cute and flattering. The shorts are a fantastic length and roominess for you. I always enjoy seeing that lovely dress in 5/6, so I have a soft spot for that one ^^ Love the peplum top over the full skirt in 7/8, totally fun! Perhaps 9/10 would work best with the shirt simply tucked in?

Thanks Alasse! The empire waist of the dress looks strange belted lower, so I don't really do that. And a belt where the skirt is gathered just makes it look more 'pregnant'.

Thanks Aida! I don't think it's the formula in #1-2 I don't feel anymore, more the pieces. I still like the denim vest over a top look, just maybe not this kind of cotton tank? And I'm over the pattern of the skirt. I prefer a floral more like the one in the pattern of my peplum top. I will try #9/10 with the shirt tucked in, maybe that works better - thanks.

I really like 3/4, 7/8 and 9/10. I like the knotted blouse in #9/10. It makes the outfit feel more casual and summery to me. Too bad it was a bit fidgety. I have the same problem with knotted shirts and thought it was just me that couldn't get them quite right.

Thanks Angie! At the last appointment for a haircut I asked him to move my part and also shorten the front of the cut. So I'm not going into inverted bob territory anymore. I like this much better, I think the shorter front is more flattering. I wore a middle part my whole life, so it took a few days to get used to the new part. But I really like it now! I didn't do anything about the color, although he did suggest doing high- or lowlights next time. I'm not sure yet. The plan was to let it grow out again a bit, but now I think of keeping it around this length after all, maybe just tweak this cut.

Thanks Sara! I'm always fine when I knot in my waist, but then I need a high waisted bottom. Knots that are lower are sometimes fine, sometimes not.

I love them all. My faves are 1-6. Love the sleeveless denim look with a dress or skirt.

You look great in all of them, but I LOVE that blue peter pan collar blouse! So cute with the shorts. I love peplums over full skirts too: it's such a fun look. And you look lovely & simple in that dress. Oh and the vest fits you so well! Too bad you're not a big fan of the combo, but at least you know that if you find different pieces in similar shapes, you'll have a slam dunk outfit.

I always end up more boho in the summer, just because the shapes that work best in the heat tend to be looser & boxier.
