More glasses up for viewing (Close up pic added further down)

So after my last batch of glasses (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....elp-please) I have decided to narrow down what I'm looking for. I would like slightly "geek chic" but because I have an extremely narrow face and close set eyes, I have to be careful glasses don't overwhelm my face. I've also decided I would rather spend my glasses money on one pair I really love than on 2-3 that I just like.

I went on my lunch hour today to a more exclusive optician's and found three pairs. I'm not going to say which pair I prefer - I'm curious to see what you all have to say.

Pic 1/2: frame is a rich reddish/chocolate and the arm has a spot of gingham check on it

Pic 2/3: frame is a dark burgundy tortoise shell with a turqoise arm (doesn't show up well in the photos at all unfortunately)

Pic 3/4: Pic 5: dark red frame (sorry, forgot to get a full on face shot)
P.S. These are REALLY unflattering photos, aren't they?

Any of these contenders?

I like #1/2 the least, I think they are too square for you and if I'm right droop-ey too. #3/4 is better but still not quite right IMO. #5 looks promising, it seems like they follow the arch of your brow more and the low outer edges are higher up, know what I mean?

And I wanted to say hang in there no matter what - it will be worth it if you have the perfect ones! I got the specs I'm wearing now with YLF approval last summer, but it took a lot of running around on my side to get there.

I like the shape of glasses in photos 2 and 3. You really can't tell they are a dark burgendy though. Are you looking for red tone glasses?

My partner really does geek cchic well and he always chooses black frames but red would be a nice change up.

I really struggle with glasses and frame shape, so I'm not the best person to give advice—especially since the glasses in pics #1 & 2 are my fav, and they aren't getting any love here!

If those are unflattering photos, I'd like to see what you consider a flattering photo. You look very sophisticated in all of them (I think it's the haircut + just the right amount of makeup). I like #5 but I'm very red-biased.

Hm, I think those first two look a little big for you... I don't know, but I'm not totally sold. I like the red on you and would love to see them from the front!

I forgot to mention that I too have a narrow face with close set eyes (my face is actually long) and so I'm going to be really interested in the frames you get as we have a similar face shape and short hair and I also like geeky chic!

my favorite on you is the last pic-I think that dark frames look a bit masculine and harsh. I think you need thiner, more feminine frames. I also like dark red color in the last pair.

Wow! This is tough, because you look good in all of them (I love your lipstick color, too, Shannon!). But, I need to stay focused here and I like the middle ones, with the turquoise arms first and my second back-up choice are the gingham ones in photos 1 and 2. Now, which one did you like best?

I think you could still do better - although it's hard to tell about 5 without a front view. In the first two pairs it looks like the bridge is too wide for your face - it would be nice for your eyes to be centered horizontally in the lens. I have a thing about my eyes being too close together though, so I'm a little OCD on this issue.

Have you tried these Oliver Peoples? I have them in another color, but this red might be good for you.

If you're going for more of a geek chic look, I think you want wider ones (vertically wider) a la Jean/Greenglove's recent pic of her new specs. Just my two cents, of course!

Speaking of Warby Parker, how about these? I have been meaning to order them - the tight bridge is good if your eyes are close together.

I like #1, but I don't like #3. To me, those make your eyes seem more close-set than they really are.

Well this has been very interesting to read ladies - definitely a variety of responses here! Now it's time for me to reveal more info about these three choices...

#1/2 - my first choice. The colour doesn't quite translate in the photos very well but it's such a rich red/brown and I love the touch of black/white gingham on the arm. I do have a bit of concern that they are slightly too big for my face though. That can work to my advantage however since I wear progressive bi-focals and will give me a larger reading portion than I currently have.

#3/4 - the SA's first choice. They fit me extremely well (face width and bridge) and the turqoise arms (again, doesn't show up in the pics) are gorgeous. Kristin came with me and she liked these ones the best as well.

#5 - just a random pair of red because I always thought I'd like a red pair of glasses. Although these are nicest colour of the reds I tried on, I think I would tire of them quickly.

Cinnamon Fern - thanks for the pics of the Warby Parker specs. Unfortunately those would be huge on my face (not in width, but vertical height).

Will probably look at a few more styles yet - hope you don't mind!

Good luck with the specs Shannon. I just wanted to say that your skin is so beautiful (you must stay out of the sun) and you have a really pretty profile, which I'd never seen. The hairdo is even better up close, too!

I like one and two the best. I think you look good in all of them though. BTW, I don't think the pictures are unflattering either.

I like the first pair too - they have a stronger shape than the second pair, and I think the touch of gingham is totally you! I don't like the arm on the third pair - too much clutter with the logo. May I also say that you look amazing in your red lipstick!

I am utterly hopeless at this. But I wanted to comment on your great make up and your eyebrows. Do you fill and shape them ? They are fab !

Wow - thanks for the lovely comments about my skin and makeup - how sweet!

Claire - I burn super easily so wear an SPF 30 underneath my moisturizer at all times. I grew up on a farm and we never worried about that sort of stuff as kids but I noticed after 35 that my skin was getting a few sun damaged spots so smartened up right away and have looked after my skin much more ever since. All my facial products (cleanser, day and night moisturizer are Burt's Bees Radiance - I love natural products with no parabens in them.

For those who commented on my lipstick, it's The Body Shop's #52. It's a great daytime red and their lipsticks have beeswax in them so your lips stay nice and moist.

For my makeup, I use a combination of Lauren Hutton Naturals and Sally Hansen's Naturals Inspired by Carmindy. These products have no harmful parabens in them. Isabell - for my eyebrows, I use an eyebrow brush with Lauren Hutton's eyebrow powder to fill and shape.

I missed seeing this before, but just wanted to chime in and say I love #1's gingham sides. But yes, if you're not 100% sure, please do keep looking and I'm sure we're all quite excited to look right along with you

Seconding Claire on your skin and profile, too, Shannon --- and thanks a TON for the moisturiser recommendation! Bizarrely for darker skin, I burn and tan at an amazing rate, and anything that can help skin look *that* translucent and perfect, I'm going to go track down. Loving the non-paraben naturals, like you.

I don't use a lot of make up, but what I do use is also paraben and sulfate free now. I like physicians formula, but i didn't know that they had another "line". I have also heard great things about the Lauren Hutton line.

I've added a close-up photo of the glasses in pics #1/2 (my first choice) so you can see the detail. They are currently the front runners.

I'm going tonight to check out one more place that carries many European brands to see what they have (hopefully in my price range) and then that will pretty much exhaust my in-store options in my home town.
