I have been "on the hunt" for a Mother of the Groom dress for a couple of months now. Dresses are disappearing online, shoe sizes vanishing. So apparently I am one of many mothers on the prowl and hitting the "click to buy" button. The wedding colors are royal blue, orange and silver for a July wedding. I was told to wear whatever I like and bride's mom hasn't selected her dress yet. Hers will be a long dress. I need not worry about coordinating, I've also been told. The bridesmaids are wearing tulle skirts, some are long, some are cocktail length. Same color of royal blue skirt with sleevless silver top.

This MOB dress fits well, no alterations needed. Ombre silver. I am ordering a metallic pewter heel to try, as well as black. The navy ones I ordered killed my feet, back they went.

I am thinking a simple, understated bracelet, no necklace (as there is some subtle beadwork on neckline), not sure on color of clutch.

I am asking for an honest response to this dress.--love or not? any ideas for accessories and shoe colors? I researched online what shoes to wear with silver dress and the consensus was a color of choice (I chose navy), pewter, black.

(I tried to find a navy/royal blue dress but could not find a style I loved. Given the bridesmaids color of tulle skirt (royal blue), it might be best to stay away from blue in any case. I am 70 years old, still highlight my hair. I'm a redhead. In good shape)

the really sad thing is that ALL mother of groom and mother of bride dresses online are modeled by 20 year olds . . . .
