MOG attire - YouLookFab Forum

I know that we love an acronym on YLF so l am sharing the acronym of the day in the CG household.MOG,or mother of the (child)Genius.
As all the Uk fabbers with school age children will be aware today was results day in the Uk for 16year olds.After months of toil and tears(or maybe that’s just my DD)the results came out today and the DD was up at the school by 8.30 to meet her fate.We had promised that we would take her out to lunch afterwards be it a celebratory feast or consilation bread and water.
Fortunately it turned out to be a celebratory feast and harmony is restored in the CG household.l wanted to wear something a little festive to mark the occasion but as usual err on the casual side so l settled for a Boden midi skirt with pumps and cropped cardigan.An outfit I hoped was suitably fit for the Mother of a child genius (tongue firmly in cheek!)as I kept referring to myself all day.Cue much eyerolling from the DD but I think that she is secretly pleased.

#2 with red Tula bag
#3the child genius herself out celebrating wearing an oasis top
#4 and #5 the celebratory feast!
I hope that every one else with exam candidates in their household has had a good and happy outcome.

Congratulations to your ADORABLE DD!! What a relief. And what a terrific spread. The food looks fabulous.

Congratulations to your daughter (and to you for putting up with her)! You both look super cute. I read your post too fast originally and thought it said MINI skirt and I was thinking "A mini skirt!' Really?!" Looked at the pictures and then reread your post - made much more sense after that.

This is the best kind of post: fashion and food. I had the same thought as Bonnie, and had to double check your photo caption! DD looks like a budding fashionista with her blue mani and boho top. Lunch looks a treat!

*Off topic question - how do you keep your patio pavers weed free? I am forever working at the cracks between mine. Have instigated a plan of creeping thyme and hopeing it will out compete the weeds!

Aww,thank you ladies for all your lovely comments.You ve made a good day even better.For those of you not familiar with the uk exam system,the year 11 children (15-16 year olds) take exams called G C S E s in about 10 subjects.Some are compulsory ie Maths ,English and in Wales,Welsh-and others are a choice.Generally speaking most further education and jobs require a minimum of a pass ,grade c,in 5subjects including English and Maths.Her results mean that my daughter can now progress to sixth form to do Alevels and then with the right A level results ,.university.The A level results day was last week ,GCSE s were today.This happens every year in the UK at this time of year.
Runcarla,I’m not sure that we do keep it entirely weed free but on the whole it’s mainly only moss that grows and it’s easy to brush out with a stiff brush.The gaps between the paving are filled with Geo fix paving joint mortar that was brushed in and if any holes reappear we just brush more in and it seems to be relatively easy care.Much better than other types of grouting we have had in the past .Hope this answers your question.

What good news! So pleased you were able to splash out beyond the "bread and water" option... and that DD's hard work was rewarded. Also, I hope she has some close and dear friends who also received good results---in similar situations, I recall feeling as worried for my friends as I was for myself. Enjoy the MOG crown for a bit longer!
