I do a fair amount of hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, etc., so a significant portion of my wardrobe is gear. Lately I’ve been trying to wear the nicer clothes that just seem to be hanging around in my closet. I’m retired so there’s no dressing up for work anymore, but there’s plenty of getaways, lunches out, church, events, that call for me to ditch the sweatpants and look nice!
This is some of what I’ve been wearing in August and September:
#1 is all new this summer except the sandals. Rip skirt, J Crew top, Kate Spade purse. I wore this to my great niece’s first birthday party in NJ.
#2, #3 Those Athleta pants are from last year and I’ve found them to be a bit hard to style and not always the most flattering, but I like them regardless. These were worn on a trip to the Finger Lakes wineries.
#4 is from a catalog company that my MIL likes to buy my gifts from. It’s called Northstyle and I’ve actually found their clothes to be well made.
#5 New J Crew Factory top, pants are from last year. I broke my ankle and needed some wide leg pants, I found these at Old Navy.
#6 My favorite J Crew summer pants! I could wear these every day.
#7,8,9 Old blazers, BCBG and J Crew. The capris are me made. The jeans are Paige, an Angie recommendation from a quite few years back during the Nordstrom sale. I still love them! They have really stood the test of time.
To me, #9 was an outfit semi-fail! I love the jeans, love the blazer, don’t love the sweater or the jeans with the blazer, but I’m not sure why. I think it’s the sweater. I always wear a lightweight blouse with the blazer, and the sweater just feels wrong. Also, I much prefer my distressed jeans, rather than these dressier jeans, with this blazer.
#10 Here it is again! My absolute favorite dress of the season. Fits like someone sewed it just for me! It’s Lilly Pulitzer, purchased at a local boutique. We have some really nice boutiques here in Saratoga Springs, NY. I wore this to a surprise 87th birthday party for my MIL.
Time to start dressing for fall!
