I posted a thread a few weeks back regarding my MIL's health (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-mil-issue). In the meantime, she has had an MRI, a PET scan and a PFT (pulmonary function test). This afternoon my husband and I went with her to meet with her Thoracic Surgeon and review the results.

Unfortunately it was what we had expected. Not only does she have two significant tumours but she also has severe emphysema. She is not a candidate for surgery at all and actually not even for a biopsy as her breathing is so difficult now, and they do not like to do radiation treatment without having had a biopsy. In other words, her treatment issues are extremely limited.

She will go for another CT scan in March to see if the tumours are growing/changing/multiplying. If they are, she will meet with a cancer care specialist to determine if there is anything they can do but it is more likely we will just be looking at comfort care.

I don't want to get on a soapbox here and I only say this with the utmost of care for all of you: if you smoke, please PLEASE consider quitting. Nothing good can come from it.
