Metallic loafers....a good buy or hard to style?

I'm eyeing these Anyi Lu metallic loafers (sort of a bronzy color). I don't own many metallic items, but I'm trying to add some to the wardrobe mix. (you know: color, pattern, texture, SHINE!)

I like loafers in general and currently own two pair: black patent and nude/tan patent. I'm thinking these might be fun to have, but they are in no way a wardrobe "need." (I would not be paying full price for these, FYI)

Do those of you who own metallic loafers/flats find them useful?

Well I think Ornella has some silvery ones and she posted a couple of different looks with them. I would imagine that they would be quite useful for fun casual looks.

A huge YES to metallic loafers! They will add subtle spunk to any denim, black, grey, navy bottoms, and could be bookends for your hair.

I always have metallic shoes and sandals in my closet.
Mine also help me feel cohesive with my watch or hardware on a handbag

I find metallic footwear easier to style than any color, even black. I think you'll be surprised at how versatile these will be. Get them!

Don't own any loafers but I can see the appeal. I do pause on this particular color of metallic for you though. Have you looked at how you would wear it with your wardrobe?

I just pulled the trigger. They're mine! And for $79.99 on Ebay, brand new, plus a 14-day return window. (TS, these are actually a great color metallic for me...bronze works better than bright silver or gold for my neutral coloring.)

Thanks all for the support. I think I knew they'd be a useful purchase...but I was hesitating because I've been pretty "good" about slowing my purchases this summer and was feeling a little guilty about buying something that wasn't a need. But I'm very glad I bought them--especially at this great price.

I love them and I think you could easily pair them with almost anything. They are a neutral, you know!

So glad you bought them - I hope they work as the color and style are great. I'm not a neutral party since I am addicted to metallic accessories at the moment (bags, belts and shoes). I had bronze booties last year and wore them all the time. I have pewter metallic loafers (the same ones Karie has) and also wore them all the time. I have metallic sandals for summer.

I think you will fine a lot of uses for these. I think they would look great with boyfriend jeans!

You won't regret that purchase. I bought a pair of gold loafers about 15 years ago, didn't wear them much, but this year they are getting worn constantly! They so work as a neutral and add just a bit of polish to even a casual outfit. COngrats!

These look like a great piece because they are all shine but no pattern to them. I think they will be easy to remix.

I have pleated bronze metallic ballet flats in a similar color. I think this takes a classic to a more versatile and stylish level. As a result I think these are a wonderful investment -- totally worth it. I love wearing them with khaki colors, oranges, purples, plums, cognacs, and yellows. These are beyond versatile and you will never be sorry that you bought them.

I too find bronze to be incredibly useful. And it goes with both silver and gold, too!

Nancylee, I got some silver, slightly heeled loafers for next to nothing in Spring 2012 and they were the BEST buy. I wear them constantly. With jeans of any cut; with pencil skirts and dresses. They were the best shoes to wear on the plane and in Europe. I'm wearing them as we speak!

I will tell you my gold sandals are one of my biggest work horses this summer. Go with everything and add just the right amount of shine without being over the top. I love them, and I think these would be similar.

Yes, yes, YES! Casual metallic shoes have become a year-round staple in my closet. They dress up an outfit but are not too shiny or glam (mine are a dull pewter, which works great for my clothes) Thinking of buying some coppery ones, too, but they must be on the dull side vs. bright and shiny.

You've already got your answer, but to me it's about the style first, then the degree of shine, and then which metal(s) for your color palette . If the shoe style is one that really works for your foot and outfits, then a metallic version is almost sure to be useful. I'm with Sheila on finding the duller metallics more wearable, but that's thinking of work and daytime. I just returned some pewter ballet flats whose color I loved, but that seemed were going to cut into my foot after awhile . Drat. So I had to
think PPP and wait for the right combo
of style and metallic. But just trying them on with different outfits convinced me how versatile such a color could be.

yes! they are super cool. I have some silver/gunmetal-ish metallic flats & sandals that have become super workhorses--they add a great amount of shine/detail to most any simple outfit.
