I found this bag at Goodwill last week. It was a chalky pink color but I thought the shape was cute, and my hands told me it was real leather. It's from Old Navy, and I didn't think they sold leather bags, so I searched the lining and found a small tag that read "100% Cow Leather". Apparently the person pricing it didn't know it was leather either because it was only $5.99. I also bought a Fossil cross-body for a dollar, but you'll have to wait to see that one!
I ordered Tarrago leather dye in Magenta and DD helped me dye her. We were calling her "her" because she was so feminine in shape with her curves. Her skin was so dry and thirsty that I remarked it was like elephant hide! DD said that we had to name her and suggested Rosey, especially when she remembered that was the elephant's name in Water For Elephants. I thought it was a great name because of her new shade of pink.
So of course I couldn't wait to take her out for a spin. The first WIW is this morning to take DD to school. I just threw everything on and decided to take a picture when I got home because I liked the way the outfit turned out. It's a column of denim with my floral sweater and my new shoes. Please excuse the puffy eyes and no make-up!
Later I went to book club (outfit #2), but it was too hot for a sweater, and that was kind of the whole point to my outfit, so I changed to sandals and my bright plaid RL shirt. Rosey isn't looking as bright as she really is, since I turned off the flash. Also I think I had worn that floral sweater the last two times to book club so I wanted to wear something else, lol. Everyone loved my bright colors.
The third outfit is what I wore to work yesterday. It features my new shoes from Boutique Nordstrom via Last Chance. I needed a closed shoe for work that was summery and these seemed perfect since I love a pointy-toed flat. They are yummy leather, inside and out and were only $29.99. They are dressy enough for the boutique yet can cross over and be worn with denim. Their bone color might get beat up over time, at which point I'll dye them too! But probably not pink. I'm thinking a darker nude with a black buckle and strap, what do you think? The rest of the outfit is my ON printed skirt and a white linen shirt, yellow Target cardi and straw bag, all from thrift stores. The yellow sweater helped rein in the somewhat awkward shape of the white shirt *waving to Dragonflyjane who did the same thing using her black waist coat this week*. I got at least 5 or 6 compliments on this outfit and they were all along the lines of "nice spring-y colors in your outfit". The world is starved for color, people! I felt very Cape Cod preppy in this and feminine at the same time. It was a good day.
I'm adding a close up of the new shoes.
Last pictures are Rosey's *before* shots, when she was looking a little grey around the gills. But she is feeling much better now, and has a new lease on life!
