No, I'm not a narcissist, but I am a woman who has to fill many roles throughout my day:

1. Mom Me
Actually, Supermom. I woke at 7:58am to a little girl's voice saying: "Can Maia and Eric go to Six Flags today?" So glad I had my Festival capsule in order. I built this from the feet up. These Cheetah Croc flats are very comfy and, since they've got cutouts, they're cool enough for 90 degrees in line for a water ride! The black top was chosen for modesty and its talent for hiding sweat. Not a stellar outfit, but not bad for an amusement park on a hot day! I rode the Viper BACKWARDS. The things I do for my children. At least it was before lunch.

2. Not the Mom Me
On Adelfa's thread, I mentioned that one of my goals is for my students not to "see" me as a "Mom" when I'm teaching at home or the University. I only taught for 2 hours today, so I switched into a simple knit skirt and top. Not a good picture of it, I'm afraid. And yes, heels help. They make me taller and a little more imposing (Don't worry, I smile a lot!).

3. Free Me
"Honey, I need to run errands.........by myself." Sad, but true, that sometimes a little time driving to Goodwill and Ulta 3 by oneself is a treat. This top might be a bit big, but it's perfect for 90 degrees in an vehicle without a/c. It would look better with wedges, but, after the amusement park, my feet wanted a break!

4. Bonus: The best thing about home educating:
"Mom, can I do my school in the camper?" Mom me: "Yes. Yes, you can!" All the other kids left on the buses today, and I did hide just the tiniest of sighs. But the sight of Eric reading in the camper reminded me of why I made this choice, at least for now!

I love seeing these snapshots as a window into your different capsules and different permutations of your style. I also high five you for teaching your kids... can't be easy, but I do love the idea of not everyone coming from the same system.

Aren't the Crocs great? I wish they'd add more dressy styles so I could wear them all the time.

WOW. Beth Ann, I cannot tell you how brilliantly you have nailed your style this year. It nothing short of remarkable. You have learned, not only how to dress your body, but how to make the most of your beauty and stay current, while still fulfilling many roles within a sometime incomprehending community.

I love every single one of these. You looked amazing for the amusement park. The hat is a fun and practical touch that also adds glamour as well as a touch of whimsy, while the neutrals give the outfit class and even elegance.

Outfit #2 is cool, comfortable and chic.

And #3 is so flattering. Colours are so fresh and gorgeous on you.

Fun post! Love the styles, so fab and fresh. Never had a camper, but it sounds like a blast to read in. But then when I was a kid, I read darn near anywhere I could sit!

3 great outfits, Beth Ann! I especially love outfit 3. What a flattering top in such yummy colors. You look fantastic in a hat, too! I love what you said about a trip to Goodwill alone being a treat. Takes me back and can still remember the blissful feeling of a little time to browse and shop without kids in tow, and its been a long while since those days.

Thanks for the encouragement! I think I've always been most fashionable as Diva Me, or Professional Me, but I spend a whole lot of time in more casual roles, and I've been working to up my game!

Rae: Amazed at how the Crocs work for certain situation. I may go back and get a pair of black ballet style flats I saw at DSW. I'd travel with these, since they'd do for house slippers and hotel pool shoes, too.

Mandipa: Eric the Earnest? You have him pegged from one photo. Although, in certain situations, one might say, "Eric the Energetic." Illinois is quite easy on home educators, which is amazing, given the way the rest of the state operates. It's not the government, however, that makes me do my best. Teaching on the college level, and seeing the results of all sorts of education options helps remind me of why I'm up late and night preparing lesson plans! Not sure about high school yet. One day at a time! I'm sure you're living one day at a time too, Mandipa, with your little one!

Suz: I've been making an effort to dress appropriately to the environment and still be me -- which is never harder than at Six Flags, or a baseball game. I would get dressing as Tweety Bird (a performer, in any costume!), more than some of the looks I see as environmentally normal. Thanks for noticing the little bits of "me" I manage to work in!

And Angie: Big yes to sleeveless tops in the heat. I, like a lot of women, wish my arms were more delicate. I find sleeveless tops with a wide (but not cap sleeve) band to be the best proportion for me. I have far fewer short sleeves, although a loose diagnoal can be OK.

Kudos for homeschooling -- I know it's not easy. For a decade I worked for an independent grade school that also provides homeschooling programs for students all over the world -- for all I know, you might use their curriculum!
