When figuring out what to wear this morning I did feel a bit nervous about whether or not I could do this - but c'mon...it's only a month, right?

At least in May the weather is nice (hopefully) and should provide more diversions. Every time the urge to web shop/surf comes up, just go outside for a walk - that's my plan lol.

Erm, okay, I didn't sign up initially since I technically bought an item for this month and am doing a 1 item/mo SYB. BUT, It's only May 1, and I've already got something in line for June! Possibly July if I don't end up returning. May I join you ladies for March Madness support? Thankfully, I am already in line with the thrifting allowance.

Lyn, I don't thrift either, so I figured that $20 would be things like alterations, or dye, or socks, or like covering the postage on swap items in the mail, etc.

lol Isabel! I, for one, am excited at the thought of not having to hunt or track down something from my list. I think the interview capsule search wore me out! Here's to simply playing in my closet this month I may even try and whittle down my Cost Per Wear all month to get most items under that first hurdle of $20 CPW.

Mo that is a really great idea..very pro active, lowering CPW. You have had so much activity around our clothes ( packing, culling, unpacking, organizing, new life buying ) that I can see why it is a respite for you.

Mo - you've got a great attitude towards this challenge. Like you, I'm looking forward to playing in my closet. It's not that I've got a ton of clothes but I need to get my head around trying different combinations of what I have. I know I'm not wearing my stuff up to their potential, if that makes any sense. I think only by doing this can I truly figure out where my wardrobe holes are.

Shannon, that is a good point about not wearing things up to their potential! I usually only use a piece in one or two ways... three if it's a dress and I can wear it as a skirt. But I don't usually work to create lots of new combos, because it usually feels forced to me. But maybe I just need to put in more work to achieve the "effortless" feeling.

I spent a couple of hours at the Rack today and came away with nothing! Actually I was there looking for a gift and didn't get that either but also spent time looking at my size. The Franco Sarto leopard booties were in my basket for awhile.

We can do this! Yesterday was a challenge, shopping with my MIL and not being able to buy anything lol. So I just focussed on her and what she was looking for and it was fun (kind off he he).

And then of course some catalogues arrived at home Monday night! I wasn't going to read them, but I did, and kept pics of things Im interested in and if they are still available at the end of the month I will check them out then:)

Oh and if having you all wasn't enough to keep me accountable, Master 9 has taken it upon himself to check in with me after school and ask if I have been shopping...what's that about?

That's too funny Deborah - my son (16 yrs old) asked me when I got home from work today if I had gone shopping on my lunch hour! Nothing worse than our own son's spying on us (lol)!

Well, May1 wasn't all that difficult -- I took my daughter to run her errands (she has no car) and we usually squeeze in a little shopping along the way, BUT today she was all about returning things I had bought for her previously!! (and I hadn't said anything to her about my SYC!)

May 1st - I culled like I've never culled before. I only have room in my car for 4 tuppermaid containers so if it's not 100% fab, it is going ... to Salvation Army!
