After not being into (and frightened by) plaids for many, many years, I've bowed to the trend of the season and picked up both a new blazer and new pair of pants (not a suit) in muted, low-contrast plaids. It's taken me some time to understand how plaids, and prints in general work best for me - and that's in low-contrast colours /versions . And after wearing my new plaid pants a few times, I've decided they need either a punch of colour , or a contrasting texture (in terms of a top) in order to make them feel interesting. I wore them the first time with a black cashmere sweater and nearly died of boredom Same with the jacket. It's too easy to wear a plaid jacket with a plain top and a simple piece of jewellery.....but , that's not me. Load it up with texture and pattern and I feel much more pulled-together.

Anyways, I am super-happy with this inexpensive little jacket: well made, fully lined, and with interesting seaming. Soya Concepts always delivers. Collar works well both up and down. I have two ways to wear it this season: with a draped stretch black velvet/lace cami , leather or suede pants and suede kitten heel pointy-toe bootie: or like this (for work today):

great, cheapo black pants - Joe Fresh (decent fabric, great construction, half elastic waist, slouchy fit, pockets) - Summer 2018. I need a better quality pair of pants though....
jacket - Soya Concepts - inexpensive -Winter 2018
laser-cut leather shell - random in-store made-up-name label from Melanie Lyne - old , old, old (I'm thankful I didn't pitch it out in one of my many edits_
scarf - McQueen - replacement - Fall 2018
suede loafers - Naturalizer - Fall 2018
nude fishnet knee his; and rose gold jewellery and plum leather/rose gold hardware /watch all from Michael Kors

Comments, etc, always appreciated! Are you all into plaids too ? Thanks for having a peek.
