Maiden voyage of the burgundy tights

I need help styling these gotta have burgundy tights. I admit I did not think this outfit through. I spent an hour trying to build an outfit around the shoes and tights I pulled on this tee and loved the neckline. Yes, I was really walking around the house in a top with tights and shoes with no bottoms. I went through 5 or 6 skirts before I found one that had enough volume on the bottom that also worked with the top.

So I admit this is not my best attempt. Any other suggestions for how to style these tights are welcomed!

Cute shoes! I love their spectator look with the plaid. I think you did a great job putting together an outfit, & I especially like the colors & pattern of the top with the shoes, & the burgundy tights work with both.

That is such a pretty top D.V!
I dont think it even needs a belt due to its fitted shape. I love coloured tights with skirts, so a good choice there.
I like to wear mine with a knee-length skirt and long boots, so you see the colour, but not so much that it takes over the whole effect. If you did this with this top I would consider a cropped jacket rather than a belt.

I think the tights work wonderfully here. The length of the skirt looks just right to me and the color highlights your pretty legs and ankles. You have great style!

I like the outfit as you've styled it! I also think tights look good with a pencil skirt and tall boots, or a sweater dress and tall boots.

I laughed visualizing you walking around in tights and Tee. All you needed to do was perform a few dance moves and nobody would question your attire. Adding the skirt makes a wonderful outfit to wear out of the house. And, I love those shoes!

I struggle with the whole shoes, boots, hose and tight thing so I will leave that to the experts. Love the super cute shoes and can see you having loads of fun with them!

I have seriously been looking all over pinterest and blogs for the colored tight looks and have come to the conclusion like others here have already said, that if I embrace this trend it will be with knee length skirt and just a peek of the tight with boots...

Your way is much bolder and there are a lot of women wearing it that way, so you need to decide what you like best.

Killer tights! I do love how you matched them to the sweater. I think you could also use them as a pop of color in an otherwise neutral outfit.

I think this looks great too! I don't have burgundy tights (closest I have is purple) and I really really want some! Too bad I don't have such fabulous shoes to wear them with!

This looks beautiful. I would remove the belt though as I don't think the outfit needs it and even though the color works it's jaut a little distracting from the overal outfit. Coloured tights is not a look that I see much here but I like it. I particularly like it with the Mary Jane style shoe.

I love your plaid shoes with those tights. Makes me think of dancing...

The skirt is a great choice --- the neutral colour makes the tights stand out but the swirly shape draws attention to your legs, and not just the beautiful top (which in turn flatters your face!).

I'd only remove the belt. Don't think you need it there and the colour distracts a bit. The top seems to have enough shape on its own to not miss it; but if you're not sure, maybe try gathering up one side into a sideways semi-tuck?

I like Lyn D.'s suggestion of a cropped jacket though, or maybe a cardi, in black or grey or dark plum/burgundy --- something to maintain the vertical movement between face and legs while balancing the bold pattern of the top.

Love these tights, and I think you look great.
I seem to be in the minority, but I quite like the belt. I think the little pop of color keeps the outfit from being too prim. With maryjane shoes and a full skirt, you need a little something unexpected. If you do decide to go without the belt, try a bit of statement jewelry.
As for other style combos, I'd love to see these tights with a pencil skirt and something a little more voluminous on top. Or a sweater dress in a neutral, and a neutral bootie, with the tights being the main pop of color.

Thank you all for your support and suggestions. I just could not pull it together yesterday. I'll try again next week with the tights to come up with something more cohesive. I am leaning towards a neutral look with the tights being the pop of color.

I have those exact same shoes!! I love them but seem to be having more trouble styling them this winter. I think you did a good job styling the burgundy tights. I have burgundy tights too and usually wear them in mostly neutral outfits but that's only because I don't have any patterned tops with burgundy.

I think you have an amazing grasp of color and work it very well (far better than I) so I hesitate to offer suggestions, but...
I really like the idea of a neutral outfit with the tights as a pop of color (though this may just be more where my comfort lies, so grain of salt ....)

DV, the top, skirt and tights work together nicely. How about tucking the top in the skirt? And those shoes are cute!
