What some of you may not know is that I'm a native New Englander. I talk fast, I walk fast, I think the word 'wicked' is an adjective, and every so often I feel the pull of madras.

The L.L.Bean Kennebunkport dress. Yay or Nay?

If yay, then which color? The lighter in Corn Flower Blue or the darker in Shade Blue?

I've added a few extra shots so you can better judge the dress against my coloring.

I love the darker blue, feels more modern to me. And I love the way you've paired it with the metallic sandals!

I'm a native Lawn Guylander but love anything and everything madras. But I always prefer the darker color palettes, I'm not a fan of the pastels.

I feel a stronger pull toward the darker blue version too, unless you like the 60's feel of the more pastel shades. Besides it goes best with your wallpaper

The darker version by a mile; I associate those shades with madras and it seems more sophisticated. However, this may be because I had a flannel duster decades ago that had the colors of the lighter one.

Ah, I was sorely tempted by a pair of madras Bermudas last year, but resisted, so I get it. I have a teeny little bit of preppy in me that has to come out from time to time.

I like this on you, and it's summery and classic, but really fun with the metallic sandals. I gravitate towards darker or brighter colors as a matter of personal preference, but the lighter one really does look nice on you.

Do you know, I have always secretly wanted one of these dresses? I'm not even from New England. I blush!!

Mr. Suz is from New England. Is that an excuse?

Anyway, now I do not feel like such a weirdo. I secretly worried that this was a frumpalicious wish on my part. But you make it look positively delicious!

I like the lighter colour for you, but both are actually really nice with your hair.

Ok, I had to LOL at Mr. Suz being from NE as an excuse to wear this kind of dress. I wore cowboy boots before my husband (who is from TX) and I got together!

I would choose the darker I love it with the green clutch. What colour are your eyes? One shade may bring them out more than the other

Well now, the lighter one is preppier, but you are more striking in the darker. You can't beat this kind of dress for enjoyability. I'd wear less fancy sandals with it.

I like the darker colorway but I think that's just because I find the lighter one just too preppy. Objectively they both look great on you so I don't think you can go wrong.

Wicked awesome that you are from New England! I grew up just outside of Boston and my DH's whole family is Boston Irish.

I do have a bit of a poison eye for madras, despite it being part of both my cultures (New England and India). I prefer the blue, only because pink madras really reminds of of baby clothes.

Yay fellow NEder! I love the dress (it does me no favors, but I have the shorts, blazer and pants in madras patchwork)
I prefer the lighter (more Vineyard washed) with the metallic sandals (and cons?)

I love the lighter one slightly more. I love this look on you - beautiful! My father is from Boston but he never says wicked, on the other hand he has never lost his accent. Do Bostonians generally say wicked?

Not all. There are several Boston accents based on region - say, the Kennedys vs. Revere beach.

Oh gosh, this is going to be a tough decision! The votes for the darker version have taken a slight lead.. Can you see me wearing madras? I have visions of wearing it at Cape Cod or while visiting my girl friends in Maine, LOL. Full disclosure: it's been at least 25 years since I've been to the Cape.

Angie, I'm surprised! I thought for sure you would say the darker blue because I'm brunette. Is is because I have warm tones in my hair or is it my skin color?

Shevia, I'm from the other side of the state and I pronounce my 'R's' ! To be truthful, my nieces and nephews use the word wicked much more than I do. Every so often my Mom will burst out with one.

Una, I would be so curious to hear your voice some day. Ok, you ladies who have met Una - does she drop her 'R's' ?

I don't have a Boston accent because I grew up bi-lingual with immigrant parents. But I can do a wicked good imitation of my in-laws, who drop Rs and then dutifully put them elsewhere (hence, "Can you pahk the cah, Unar?").

Come to think of it my mother is from Pittsfield and she doesn't have a New England accent at all - nor have I ever heard her say wicked.
