It's Jacket Weather! - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies!!!

I know I haven't been participating much on the Forum these days, but that's only because I'm happily busy with work, working out & clean eating. It's all working fabulously for me....

And I'm really really enjoying our current weather! It's not cold yet, just pleasant enough to wear jeans everyday and also a lightweight jacket over summer clothes. Unlike other years, I have been in NO rush to pull out all my heavy-duty winter wear and do the seasonal swap for my closet because I love layering jackets over summer dresses. It's a look that most of you (in Europe & US) can probably wear through summer. But here in India, it's only now that the temperatures are 26-14 deg C and I can enjoy this look.

#1-3: I got this simple tshirt dress from H&M and it's a favorite. I also have it in green. They are perfectly lightweight and I adore the shape...and the pockets!!! The black dress is perfect with my new cropped bomber and sneakers. Worn for a day of shopping with a friend.

#4-6: A dressier (though it's also a bit sexier coz of the fitted dress) version with a striped fitted knit dress and mixed media jacket. I wore this in the evening, so the boots were the perfect addition.

Hopefully, our gorgeous weather will continue for another couple weeks. I'm excited to try my new H&M biker jacket over the dress Diane G made for my birthday the coming weekend!

I had written a comment but it disappeared. Anyway - I like your outfits very much! I am glad that you are having the right temperature to sport the "Jacket over Summer dress" look, which I like very much. Dress 1 looks comfortable and pretty (successful but rare combination) and dress 2 is fabulous paired with black jacket and booties.

The first outfit is so fashionable and cute. The second outfit is amazing. The jacket and the dress fit so nicely and look great on you. I love that the dress still shows your curves but isn't tight.

I love both of these dress/jacket combos. I wasn't sure about the bomber style jacket for me but that is so cute on you that I think I may have to try one.

I'm so pleased you're enjoying the cooler temps Manny. You rock a jacket and dress combo and these looks are fab. You're Ms sporty with the bomber and sneaks and wowzer, don't those boots look fab with the asymmetric hem stripey dress.

Sisi - I'm really good at finding dresses that look cute but are still comfy!!! After having amassed (and then discarded) tons of dresses that only looked good but were highly impractical for my real lifestyle, I got much better at picking clothes that work for my everyday life. It helps that dresses are easy to fit for me....I'm much more likely to find the perfect dress than find the perfect pair of jeans (like Angie & many others)!!

Jaileen - I was worried for a bit that this jacket may not be used enough. It's quite cropped and doesn't look as good with jeans. But I'm amazed at how easy it is to wear over most of my dresses & skirts!

Smittie - I loved the 1st outfit too!!! I felt quite 'fashionable' in it. And it was SUPER comfy too. I just love the fact that sports shoes are totally acceptable as casual wear!!! Two years ago, I wouldn't have imagined I'd hapily wear Sketchers with a dress and feel fashionable! But here I am...wearing this look often and I always feel really good. I'm planning to buy Black & White Nike's as well....just for casual wear

Di - I think the dress looks great with the boots too! The 2nd outfit just 'happened'.....I didn't put much thought in it. But I guess that's what happens when you've collected great 'basics' that all just go so well together I couldn't have been more pleased. I think my wardrobe is at its BEST its ever been right now.

I also find dresses easy to fit (much more than jeans too!). You really have a great balance here on the casual/dressy/flattering/trendy line.

Thanks Sally. That's very kind of you! I go for a Zumba class thrice a week, along with 1.5hours of walking everyday. Out of that, half an hour goes walking my dogs, so that's NOT a brisk walk! I make up in the hour afterwards
I think the bigger change is diet. I'm modifying my diet to cut back on carbs. Here in India, our diet revolves around carbs! I'm cutting back, adding in more proteins & fats to my meals, and I think that is what is making a real difference.
