Loving my white booties... and apparently other people do too...

These are the Naturalizer Blair's, I think Angie has them too? They are an 8 on the comfort scale (may be better when we get into thick sock weather, or I break them in some more) and a 10 on happiness factor. I have been wearing them every day. They go with everything. They make me so happy!

As for other people, I just got back from running errands around town. I got "catcalled" by a construction guy. But it wasn't your typical catcall. He shouted out, "Wow I love your boots! Those are awesome!" In a way that seemed sincere and not creepy at all. So I shouted back, "Thanks! I love them too!"

So of course when I got back home I had to take a pic and share. (Sorry about the bad lighting and the mess behind me -- evaluating a green Jcrew coat which is unfortunately going back).

- Naturalizer Blair booties
- ON high waisted skinnies
- Striped tee/tunic was from NAS... I think Halogen or Calson, can't remember. But I love it.
- Blazer/coat is the Jcrew Merino sweater jacket from last season. Did not come in petites, I sized way up to a Medium as I liked the oversized look. (It's supposed to hit at the hip, not the thigh)
- Lo&Sons crossbody

Suz, I've also got a pair of light tan suede booties but haven't worn them as frequently. Technically they're closer to my actual hair color(*). I don't know what it is. I think I like higher contrast outfits?

(*) Haven't dyed my hair since February. There really is white/silver hair growing in, though I know it's difficult to see in the photo.

Angie, I was thinking about duplicating in black but they aren't a 10 comfort wise for me. At least not yet, may need more breaking in. But I've worn them quite a lot this past week so I don't know how much more breaking in they need.

All I know is this has long been a HEWI for me and I'm so happy that there's selection this season and I do want to stock up if I can find the right shoes. I am open to suggestions, and not unwilling to invest for the right pair (I see a lot of sock booties that are expensive but might work).

Here is my white bootie review, as I ordered 4 pairs:

1. Sam Edelmann cafe boot -- were initially comfy,,, until I wore them out on cobblestone city streets with a slant. My foot slid into the pointy toe area, causing pain. No arch support. Ankles were a bit sloppy for me too. But the leather was scrumptious and super soft. Would work well on a wider ankle, maybe with an insole (I didn't try as I have high volume feet and insoles rarely work for me). Or for a narrower foot sized down. Getting returned.

2. Geox Lovai bootie -- LOVED these booties and so wanted them to work! And they would have, if my feet weren't on the wide side of normal. The leather is stiffer. The bootie is heavier overall. Didn't see them breaking in much. Nice stiff footbed (which I prefer). They are beautiful and I love love love the studded detail. Fit perfectly in the ankle. Cried that they are too narrow for me. Returned.

3. Impo booties, forget which model, I mentioned on one of these threads. This is kitten heel and higher shaft. I still have these and I'm debating whether to K/R. The shaft is loose on me. But otherwise the shoe is super comfortable and easy to walk in. I think works with tights and a dress but I'm not wearing dresses much these days. On the fence. Have not returned yet.

4. These Naturalizer Blairs. An 8 in comfort, so I'm keeping them. Still not as comfy as some of my other booties, but comfy enough. Probably wouldn't take them traveling with me on a trip where I was walking everyday all day long.

Increasingly interested in white shoes. Tan is more of a match for my hair. But when I try on white boots it feels like they really activate the outfit, for some reason. I bought one pair but eventually had to admit the heels were far too high.

I love how the boots pull those white stripes to the fore and lighten up the whole outfit.

The catcall reminds me of a "compliment" (I think) my son got when he was around 8--"Wow, bitchin' hair, dude!" What's a mother to do, lol.

What a fashion foreward guy- killer look and heartwarming story- love you have had guts to answer!:-)))) I'm warming up to wearing my white western booties, too-more and more:-). Oh, and yess, I think as I age i crave more higher contrast outfits...I do have tan suede booties, exact the color of my hair, but don't reach them so often anymore (they are several years old).

They do look awfully cute on you! I sometimes see a look incorporating white boots/shoes that looks so good, I'm almost tempted, but then remember how I didn't love wearing white on my feet the last time I tried it. Even though I know other dark-haired women wear white booties well, I don't love the look on me and have learned that, like white jeans, I am best off admiring them on other people!

Angie, for which? The Geox doesn't come in a wide. I don't need a wide for the Blair's -- the only discomfort is at the ankle where the zipper meets at the top. It just rubs a bit, not enough to get a blister, just enough to annoy. I think it's because my ankles may turn inward a bit, especially when I get fatigued (they start out comfy but if I'm on my feet for hours they start to not be as comfy). As I said I think with taller socks this'll be a non-issue.

The ankle-roll issue is why I think I do better in shoes with very stiff soles. Or, as I mentioned, my arches may be falling like my mom's did at this very age. That's what I really loved about the Blondo's! So much support my feet went "ahhhhh"... I just need to find a style with a shorter shaft.

Love this outfit head tp toe. You are make no me and egret not tracking down the J Crew when I first saw it on you. Oversized looks fab.

I wish white shoes worked in my dusty muddy sidewalk-less life. I bought some white sandals earlier this year and it is a constant battle with the wet wipes.

Great outfit! I've been seriously contemplating those white boots. However, I have some of the same concerns as Janet - will they look as good with my dark hair as they do on blondes/lighter shades? I also typically don't like a lot of contrast between my pants and shoes so while I love looking at your outfit with black jeans and white boots, I probably wouldn't replicate it.

I'd love to see these in person. I'm intrigued enough by white boots to at least try them on, but these Naturalizers aren't stocked anywhere here, including the B&M store. Likely seen as too fashion -forward for this market (eyeroll). There's no way I'm ordering white footwear without having seen it first - quality is too unpredictable .

These look great! I do like all the white booties around here but like Janet and Sara, I am not sure I like them on me. I have fairly large feet for my height and I feel like white makes them look larger. But I love these with the striped top, so much more of a statement than dark booties would be.

Karen, totally hear you on that. I am planning to wear the heck out of these booties while I can, as once the winter slush and muck hits, that's not going to work. I do like the Impo's and ordered those on purpose because they are pleather and I know from experience that pleather is easy to clean right up.

Angie, it's not a moleskin solvable issue. Best way I can describe it is... "every step you take, I am watching you." LOL. No blisters (which moleskin would solve). Just knocks my ankle with every step, saying hello? Remember us? We're your booties, and you are wearing us. In this case it's because my ankles are rolling in so the knock knock reminder is on the inside of my ankles. Most other booties I've rejected were because the annoying part is in the front of my ankle. My older booties don't do this!

Lisap, I think you'd totally rock white booties, with your coloring. This is the year to give it a whirl as there are TONS of options. I've always envied Angie's white booties but the pickings were too slim until now. I get you on the quality, though all the ones I'd ordered were nice quality. Including the Impos, which are pleather, but that has the advantages when it comes to white shoes.

Sara & Robin, for me the gateway has been wearing white sneakers quite a lot. If those worked, I figure, why wouldn't booties. It did take me some time to get used to white sneaks. The stumpifying effect is real when you're only 5'0 tall. Maybe my eye has adjusted, I don't know. I do think it helps these booties have low shafts. But also I think it's such a deliberate contrast and statement, it somehow works. I.e., people's eyes get stuck on your footwear. I think this outfit is a great example as your eye goes from white in the stripes to the shoes and you basically ignore everything in between. Does that make sense? Whereas if you are wearing dark footwear and dark jeans, your eye goes up up up (registering longish legs) then lingers on the top and other above the waist details. And I love that, and it's my usual M.O. But I also love this somehow too. Note my top is even tunic length, so leg shortening is theoretically extreme here.

One more thought on leg lengthening strategies...

I did try this look rolling/cuffing my jeans, tucking the hem under, to show a bit of ankle. And I disliked it. These ON rockstar jeans are petite but still long on me, not sure if you can tell, but there is scrunch around the ankles. This may not be current / may be dated(?) but I rather like the effect of scrunch and always have. I might like cuffed ankle length more with actual shooties. These Blairs aren't shooties. Or with lighter bottoms.

I do have a light grey merino wool midi sweater dress (BR last season) that I haven't worn with these booties yet but I know will be perfect, as up until now I've worn that dress with white sneakers.

I don't expect to buy white booties any time soon, but I did notice that this site has a section set up for them. When you go to "boots", you see 3 choices: Western, leather, and white.
