Okay, I checked my calendar and my work event is the FIRST weekend in October (Oct 6-7). I have an important bar mitzvah on Saturday afternoon, Oct 20 (third weekend) but could duck out for it and then rejoin the party.

Summary: My preferred dates are Oct 13-14 or 27-28. Can't do Oct 6-7 at all.

If I wasn't already going to Vegas in October, I'd be scheming.

I just texted DH who is on a trip. I forgot DD has a week of fall break in Oct (new for her school this year) and DH bid a week of vacation so we'd be able to do something. He will be scrambling to get his hours in around that week off, but said the first weekend Oct. 6-7 would be my best bet for a YLF meet-up (sorry Mary)!

Thanks, Rae, for telling me about this thread! After seeing Kari's Octoberfest thread from last year, it looks really fun!

If we were to have our Octoberfest So. Cal.-style, my best weekends are Oct. 6-7, 13-14 or 27-28. I have plans on Oct. 20, but will be thinking of you if that's the date! We may have to take over the whole hotel, going from room to room for a progressive house party and ongoing tailgating! Marley, we could get a room together!

Still, Angie's put something out there that adds intrigue! ^_^

Vicki, the Oktoberfest in Leavenworth that I went to is quite a ways out from Seattle (over 2 hours.) It's certainly fun, but it's more of a destination itself rather than something that's easy to pop into from Seattle. Plus, during October, it understandably gets VERY crowded in Leavenworth hotels!

OT: there are some CUTE cloche hats at Nordstrom. I have my eye on the orange one! http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/no.....hoppingbag

(I'm certainly game for an excursion to LA just as Seattle starts to get cold and drizzly again. I'm thinking that I may treat myself to a solo day at Disneyland as a side trip if the YLF event does end up taking place in Orange County - could be fun!)

Sold! Kari, you are the best personal shopper around! Yay! I love that hat and you know our weather is perfect in October. I can already see you sporting the orange cloche with your cobalt blue bag! It would be so much fun to have you here and Disneyland is right in the OC, making it even easier for you! I think we've got something grand going on here! (Oh, Kari, what color hat for me? They're all so cute. Help.)

Out-of-towners, I would so love to see you come for a visit; I feel like I know a few of you! Meeting you in person would be the icing on the cake!

Seattle's Oktoberfest is in the end of September

Hmm if this ends up moving up to Seattle I think I will still be heading to LA for a weekend; having that bit of sun just as the weather really starts to get grizzly up here was SOOOO awesome last year!

I haven't been on the board in ages, but Vicki was nice enough to forward me the link to this thread. I don't know if I'll be bale to make it, but I'll be watching to see what your final decisions will be and see if I can. It's great to see so many wanting to do this again!

Aida, whether Oktoberfest is in L.A. or Seattle, I would love to meet up with you in L.A. when you come down here! Heck, you can even stay in the Woman Cave!

Oooh if I end up coming alone then I'll probably take you up on that Mary, thanks!

In reading this thread, I think its time to separate out the two different topics - so we can keep communication from getting all convoluted! How about we have one thread regarding a meet-up in LA/OC area - and another thread regarding a meet-up in Seattle?

Marley, your idea sound just like the thing to do.

Just some quick update on my part. To make the long story short, I was finalizing my travel plans for the year during the weekend. I came up with the sad realization that once I deduct my Euro trip in November, I'm left with less than a week on vacation time. Even though is a weekend, I still need to account for travel time back and forth. I won't be able to make the SoCal or possible Seattle trip. Have fun without me!!!
