This past weekend I went out of town with quite a few friends to an Oktoberfest event in Leavenworth, a touristy faux-Bavarian village in central Washington. My boyfriend and I traveled out on our own a little early so we could hit up a winery to do a tasting beforehand, and spent the rest of the weekend exploring the town and enjoying the festivities at Oktoberfest. I am not a huge beer drinker myself, but had a lot of fun enjoying the crazy costumes, fun music, and energetic dancing. It was our first time at the festival and we loved it.
The highlight of my weekend ensemble was a purple wool cloche hat with a gigantic feather on the side, which at least half of our group (including male friends) wore at some point during the weekend.
The 4th photo of me below is not with our group, but with some men that I ran into that had very fun costumes. If I attend next year, I'll probably try to dress up too.

Added: I should also mention that pre-SYC, I found the perfect pair of alternative low-heeled Fidji slingbacks to mix & match with my yellow pair. Since the purple pair is lower heeled, I wore them all weekend and they were insanely comfortable - nary a blister in sight, and the somewhat pointy toe shape was surprisingly easy on my "square" toes. I've always wanted blackberry-purple shoes too, so my feet are quite happy!
