let's try that again: BR denim shirt with a better bra this time

First, pics 1 and 2 are of the BR shirt with the less well-fitting bra. Should have done it right the first time around.

Next two are with the good bra.

I think...better, but is it still not for me? Because pockets are still up too high in proportion to the position of my breasts...if I were flat-chested, guessing it wouldn't matter as much.

This would be a problem no matter which brand I got, if I had pockets. I usually avoid them, but it's hard to with a denim shirt.

MUCH better! I dont mind the pockets at all... if fact, they give the girls "lift"... right smack dab in front would make them look boxy, lower would pull them down. I think this is just right.

I agree, it looks so much better with the right bra. And I wouldn't worry about the pockets, they are small and neat, and not very noticeable.

I'm starting to get fond of this shirt (I'm still wearing it!) and may want to cut the tags. It wasn't that pricey, and I can always still pick up another one, eh?

The bra does make a difference, but as a fellow busty woman, I have to confess that I really don't care for chest pockets on us. (I'm having a terrible time finding a denim skirt without them, though. *sigh*)

Bra improves things considerably.

I have noticed that BR shirts tend to have a high pocket placement and even as a flat chested person I sometimes wonder about it. However, I think if you are not staring at the pockets, this is not as noticeable as we fear!

Oh my goodness, what a difference a good bra makes! Too bad they are so difficult to wrestle into. I think the higher pocket placement is a good thing, as long as any bust darts are where the actual boobage is. I vote keep and cut tags!

Oh Mochi, this is a FABULOUS shirt !! I love everything about it. I love patch pockets on the chest...by I also have man-boobs. So it is really going to come down to whether you like them or not. I do .

I find chest pockets quite tricky too, but I find that if they're just the right size and placement, they can actually be flattering. I have on a shirt today that is a lightweight flannel plaid, and quite fitted -- it has chest pockets and it is very flattering because it fits so well. I think the busy plaid helps the pockets blend in more too.

This is just an observation Mochi and not sure if this is indeed what's happening but the shirt seems to rid up--there seems to be lots of space between the back of your neck and the collar making the pockets look high--is this the shirts default position in wear? What happens if you give the shirt a good tug down in front at the hem and bring the collar closer to the nap of your neck?
It is a nice shirt!
I see this coz my button front shirts sometimes do this and it took a while to realize I didn`t set the thing right to begin with.

Mochi, thanks for posting this - I am totally surprised how much difference the bra makes - now I am going to try this exercise on myself.

Especially with the second set of pictures, I wonder how a size smaller would look? The shoulders look a bit big to me, and you certainly have room in the waist to go smaller.

The right bra is definitely doing more justice to your shape!

I'm with those wondering about size or just the cut of this shirt, though -- the pockets look way over to the side/armpit.

While I generally avoid breast pockets unless I'm desperate (raincoat, sigh) I still feel I can be objective about them and I think you can do better than this shirt (in this size, anyway).

I wore this exact shirt two days in a row this week, I love it *that* much.

Vix, I don't find the position of the breast pockets jarring. In fact, I think they look better off and above the breast sometimes - does that make sense?

I don't think that a size down will work because it will pull across the torso and bust line. I really like the fit actually, but do find the sleeves long. Is this the petite, Nancy?

What a difference the right bra can make! The "girls" look so much better in the shirt now! Those pockets are pretty small so I wouldn't worry. Thumbs up!

It's a regular XL, Angie. And now I've just checked the site, and online it is offered in petite. (But only up to L.) So I feel like I (accidentally) made the right decision. It's not a perfect fit, but I'm happy with it, and I'll wear it with the sleeves rolled up. After a few women mentioned the shoulders being big, I took another look and they do seem slightly roomy, but not that far off.

I have to say that since buying it yesterday, I have fast become extremely fond of this shirt. It's comfy, roomy, has a nice casual but flattering cut to it and the color is awesome. I'm curious to see if it will fade with washing...not a problem, but I like it as it is now.) The fabric is durable and it looks well-made, which is one thing I'm fussy about. I will definitely keep my eye open for other brands of denim shirts--I would not mind having one or two more--but I'm really pleased with this one!

A good bra makes all the difference. I pay more for bras than most any other item of clothing; my bras are engineering marvels. I love this color shirt on you (I think I said that before ;)) and this one looks good. I think it is theoretically possible to find one with an even better fit on the shoulders, but I would absolutely wear this until then.

And yes, this is a really flattering color (I would think it would work on almost anyone), and now that the wheels are spinning in my head, I'm thinking about it with greys, my tricky-to-pair-up white cashmere cardigan, and in all sorts of color and textural combinations.

Oooh, I'm sticking my neck out here and am going to say I don't love it. My biases: not a huge fan of buttondowns or collared shirts, though I'm giving them a try myself lately. This seems to be sitting too far back on your shoulders, or if it is properly pulled forward I don't like how high the collar seems to sit. As a sister in the welll-endowed category, I'm also not big on the pockets. It could be the camera angle too, because of the way you're standing in that last photo...

I'm sorry to be a naysayer and I see I'm in the minority. But I know you're a fan of blunt honesty, so I felt I should speak up!

Mochi, it's amazing the difference a good bra makes :). I like this on you. The wash of the denim is a really goof color on you. I think this a keeper. Cut of the tags and enjoy .

No worries, Una. I'm often the sole naysayer, and it takes special effort to bother with your thoughts after a long string of differing opinions. (I was always the first, then felt bad after everyone subsequently raved about an item.) I realize it's not perfect, and the pockets are what they are. And weirdly, though I swear the shirt is not too small, it STILL gapes around the bust! I think it's just the way fabric drapes when you've got too much bust, LOL. I'm considering fabric tape or a secret hook and eyelet.
