A couple cool summer day outfits featuring this resin leaf necklace from a local fair trade shop.

1-2 olive tee with slit cuff loops; cropped zippered resin jeans; yellow suede mules; the leafy necklace; large teal crossbody bag. Out for a day trip with my husband.

3-6: Forest green knit skirt and ribbed tank; that chambray shirt that I’m insistent on wearing this summer, tied at waist, open, sleeves rolled; a silk paisley headband/scarf; pewter T-strap sandals. Wine tasting.

Please excuse the scratch marks on the neck. One of my eldest rats just passed and in her final days she needed a lot of comfort and cuddles, which means scratch marks. I’m wearing them with love.

Condolences on the passing of your rat.

The color palette is beautiful, and the glass leaf necklace is lovely. Really love the glasses. Are they new?

Thank you, Kate. It was expected but still hard.

The glasses are over a year old, but they are newest out of the 4 pairs that I rotate between.

So sorry about Izzy - not unexpected perhaps, but still a painful loss.

I love the sleeves on that olive tee and the necklace is so pretty! Love the colors so much in this outfit. And great wine-tasting outfit! Love the headband and really impressed by your makeup skills. And happy to see the chambray shirt again! You’ve inspired me to wear mine more often too!

I've been wanting to wear scarves as a headband to help with frizzy, summer hair, but how do you keep them from slipping off your head?

Christy and AJ, definitely. We’ve expected it for months and knew there was nothing more we could do for her a month ago, but it leaves a hole in our hearts. Her sister Lolly is now the oldest rat we’ve ever had!

My hair is pretty slippery and I slide 4 Bobby pins into my hair around the edge of the headband to keep it from slipping off. This at least is meant to be a headband, with an elastic inside the back, so it’s not as prone to slipping as a rolled silk scarf is.

Thank you for the condolences. It still doesn’t get easier, even though we’ve been through it a lot - but I guess I understand better how to hold this grief when I know it’s coming. Izzy had been waaay stronger than expected through a nasty illness this year, and had a long life, but we miss her and were so sorry to lose her.

I’ve had this necklace for a while - it was made in Ecuador and sold at a local fair trade store that often has fun jewelry. I need to pay them another visit.
