Favorite outfits from the past 2 months (with some very fluctuating temperatures!)

Some days I’m still spending all day in loungewear, but there are more and more days where getting dressed in something nicer/more creative feels fun. I’ve also been challenging myself to embrace pieces that I wasn’t sure how to wear - wide cropped pants or jeans, a denim skirt (yes, I know supposedly denim skirts are an easy staple, but it’s stumped me over the past year!) and diving into overalls with gusto.
Also, we’ve had weather that was nice enough to pull out pretty summer dresses.

The biggest change since last time I posted was being fully vaccinated and able to really meet and socialize with my baby niece for the first time since her birth last summer. I’m so glad that we can finally be together; she’s a really happy, sweet, un-fussy kid and seems to really be excited to see me. Also, finally was able to hug and be with my family; due to where my husband and I live we weren’t safe to include in any immediate family “pods” until both of us were vaccinated. Being able to be with loved ones FINALLY and see friends who I’ve only talked with online for the past year and a half is such a gift.

1. Colors that I’d not combined before, but made me smile: wide crepe pumpkin culottes, a teal knit top with some genius twisting that makes it drape beautifully, Rose gold flat mules, a pendant necklace with turquoise and carnelian details
2. One of my style challenges: wide, cropped jeans (additional challenge of being shorter than any of the models I saw styling this look; I collected a lot of images from searches of fellow plus size folks wearing jeans and pants like this, brainstorming ideas.) These are wide patchwork jeans with slightly lighter patches and pockets, and I really liked the look of them. Paired with a black floaty blouse with bell sleeves, tucked in, floating pearl necklace, golden-silver oxfords (that’s the official color label on the box.)
3. Dark denim overalls with zipper detail on the bib, the same golden-silver oxfords, a cerulean long sleeved tee with colorblocked navy cuffs, a labradorite pendant on a pewter chain
4. Black strapless top tucked into black “harem” drop-crotch pants, rose gold collar necklace, rose gold flat mules
5. Turquoise long sleeved mesh dress over a turquoise asymmetrical hem dress with short sleeves, low-heeled rose gold mules, double strands of floating pearls
6-7. Olive knit pencil skirt, teal ribbed tank top, green leafy beaded necklace, yellow suede mules
8. Basically the same as the prior outfit, just in different colors: forest green knit pencil skirt and ribbed tank, double strand of floating pearls, silver loafers
9. Black semi-sheer sleeveless blouse with a gold swan pattern on it (and unseen, a big lace panel across the upper back) with black denim below-knee shorts, green Chaco sandals, silver pendant necklace
10. A multicolored fit and flare midi dress, shirtdress-style except sleeveless; multicolored geometric print primarily in salmon, gold, and burgundy. Worn with flat rose gold mules and rose gold collar necklace.
11. Dark denim skirt, black camisole, chambray shirt knotted and with sleeves rolled, with silver T-strap sandals and silver collar necklace
12. Another favorite summer dress, this one with a coral and cobalt watercolor floral print. This sleeveless dress has a deep V, ruched shoulders, pockets, and falls just below the knee on me. Paired with flat rose gold mules.
13. Resin-coated jeans with zippers at ankles, forest green ribbed tank, black vest worn open, flat rose gold mules, silver pendant necklace
14. Grey leather jacket (this is the one I finally patched in early 2020, on the sleeve you can see here!) with an unseen teal tee underneath, grey skinny jeans, and sneakers (meeting up with baby niece to explore a farm)
15. Black fit and flare dress, pewter and purple beaded collar necklace, flat rose gold mules
16. The same wide patchwork jeans you saw earlier with a burgundy pussycat bow blouse with fuchsia, orange, and white watercolor floral pattern, and the same golden-silver Oxfords.
17. Black strapless top with the black below the knee shorts, silver collar necklace, silver T-strap sandals
18. Black resin-Coated jeans with ankle zippers, a black tee underneath a satin black bomber jacket, silver pendant necklace, and sneakers

20. From the same day as #1, me with no glasses and wavy hair. I liked how this picture turned out, and this week when my niece saw it (when I wasn’t there) she got VERY happy and excited, clearly recognizing that it was me. (That felt great to hear!)
