Lace or linen blazer?

Has anyone seen this in person? I'm tempted because it's cotton but I'm also wondering if this is kind of frumpy? My other option is the Gibson linen blazer but I'm not sure about the versatility of the collarless style. (The reviews on fit also give me pause.)

I find collarless the most versatile as an IT, actually (my black Theory blazer!). Not sure about the printed lace, though. Is that what it is, printed?

I don't think I have anything collarless except for the Trouve leather jacket that I posted a few weeks ago (which I never followed up on--oops.) I love my lavender ponte from the Gap but it's a little warm--I should have thought about that (oops again.) To answer your question, I'm assuming it is printed but I'm not sure. I figured someone around here might have seen it.

I eyed the pattern & neutral color but thought it might be too boxy for me.
Trying to resist collarless due to my giraffe neck and small shoulders. As I recall you have strong shoulders so I think you could do the linen one well.

What brand is the first blazer (lace)? It may be one I saw at Nordstroms or Rack but that one was more uniformly black. My lace bomber black lace looks much like the photo. The sort of purplish grey of the lace adds to the texture but makes it harder to wear with colors.

@ joy: the brand is Olivia moon. It reminded me if the lace bomber you have but in a more conservative style.
@ unfrumped: yes, I've got a short neck and wide shoulder line so I think the Gibson would fit if I can get the correct size. Gibson sizing isn't very consistent in my experience. I also don't have much of a waist so boxy usually fits--lol!

As soon as I saw these I thought how well you can carry the collarless because of your strong shoulder line.

I'd try the linen Gibson blazer #2 - it's more modern and fun for summer and I think it could look really great on you.

I like the linen one. I think collarless is fine here because it has the sharp lines at the neck and hem that are nice and lengthening, and not sweet the way some collarless styles can be.

I like the idea of the lace print too - it's like a casual version of my bellatrix - but I'm not crazy about the cut. It looks a little boxy and I think I'd prefer a single button rather than 2. Still, it might be worth a try, as your shoulders might give it enough sharpness.

Thanks, Mona, rachylou, texstyle and Diana. I think the Gibson is in the lead. I agree that it looks more modern. Will think on it a bit more.
@Diana: I really loved the Bellatrix one you have but the peplum style just looked weird on me. I think the fabrication of this one is probably better for me too.

Oh good - I think the linen one is the better choice. It has a nice clean silhouette and great fresh colour.

I like the linen one better, and with your stronger shoulder line, you can pull it off. I would need to add some linebacker pads to get it to work with my shoulders!

I've had both on my bod, as part of search for the wedding outfit. I kept the linen in white and returned the lace, but you can see the pics here. I really like the linen blazer but it runs small. I had to order a Medium Petite (the regular sizes were too big in the shoulders for me). The yellow and pink colors are a bit brighter than they appear in the pics, but are very pretty, too (I ended up with white). I returned the lace. It fit well, but the sleeves were that strange length (bracelet?) that are too short to be worn unscrunched.

Here is my final version of the linen blazer.

Oh, how funny, sarah! I even commented on the first post of yours. I didn't remember! (Although I've had a lot on my mind lately.) Thanks for chiming in on this. I loved your final wedding outfit and I remember that jacket. I've read about the crazy sizing on the Gibson. I can't decide whether to order a M or a L since it says to size up a bust size. My Gibson Riding Jacket is small and my Gibson Cotton Blazer is a Medium--so I think I will need a regular large in this one. I usually have no problem filling out the shoulders

I actually really like the lace blazer on you too. I'm tempted--I think that sleeve length will work for me for summer. I would like a black jacket--but not solid black and that may fit the bill. I will probably order and then decide. It sounded like you liked the fabrication and overall style?

LOL, Kelly. You should probably order both the M and L in the linen. It's hard to know - the L was to small for my mom, but she's a 12/14 and very large-busted. I was swimming in the M.

The lace is very lightwt, but lined, so it seemed nice for summer. I was quite torn and almost kept it, but it gets so hot here in the summer that the only time I can wear jackets is for conferences, so I decided it wasn't worth it. Give it a try!

The shoot went very well - it was overcast, so the light was good and I was glad with my color choice (all the shots were from the waist up so it didn't really matter what belt/pants/shoes I was wearing!).
