Paper dolls anyone? More wedding outfit fun.

As some of you know, I'm attempting to put together a trousers/jacket outfit for an upcoming wedding. Here are contenders for shoes, jackets, and pants.

Shoes - I'm pretty sure I'm keeping these Isaac Mizrahis: they're comfortable, neutral, and dressy (silver! with a heel!), but still feel like me (thanks Angie!).

Jackets -
#1: Gibson linen jacket in white
#2: Olivia Moon lace jacket (black and white)
#3: Same as #1 in citron; similar Gibson to #1 in mint; #1 also comes in coral but not in my size.

Pants -
#1: Zara in ink blue: I would let out the hem and narrow these at the ankle to have a silhouette like the pants in #4
#4: Zara in print: a bit polyester and wild for me (I would need a different top but don't have one at the moment)

Shell -
#1, 2: This Zara shell is TOO NEON for me (not the way it was pictured), so I need to replace it. Other ideas for a color? I've shown some contenders from Talbots, Loft, and ATL in #5. I like the idea of coral, but couldn't find any.

Do any of these combinations work? Do either of the jackets or pants work for you? I have my opinions, but am keeping them to myself for now.

I love #4 - the jacket & pants look great imo. I'd like to see it with a different top this one looks a little dark (it could be the photo though).
My second pick would be #1 with a patterned top.

I love #4 too, and I think it would go beautifully with the top from #5 in the top row middle position (medium blue). Second pick is #1 with a tucked top. Great shoes, score!

I like the Gibson blazer in white (I think it could be quite versatile for various events and the cut has a nice modern/minimalistic look to it). I like the dark Zara pants (1-2). The shells look great. I also like the look of this one http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ha.....n=wishlist in beige but may it is not bright enough?

Thanks, Makrame. I actually don't like the Zara shell. But the one you linked to is nice - somehow I missed that one. I'm afraid the beige would wash me out. But what about the cayenne, pink, aqua sky or green?

I am afraid the choices look a bit too casual for a wedding, even an afternoon one IMO, but I prefer either 2 or 4 with a different shell. Perhaps pick the light purple for 4 and the light yellow for 2.

I dont feel like a ton of help but I like 1 or 4 with the green shell in the middle bottom row. But, on to what I wanted to say from the start .... i really love those shoes!

Yes, I like the tank in cayenne and aqua especially. I think you are right about the beige - too pale. I have not seen this tank but I like the idea of an airy, silky layer that is not too shiny.

i really love the shoes and think they are perfect. im having trouble seeing any of the combinations at wedding though, unless the wedding is ultra-casual.

I like the navy pants narrowed as you plan with the white linen blazer and either the 2nd or 4th shell (whichever best brings out the blue of your eyes). I love the shoes!!

I am not an expert on pants looks, so I'm groping here. I think Joy has good ideas. A wedding is such a special event. You definitely don't want to look like you're wearing something that could work at the office. Still love the shoes!

Joy and Ali (and Makrame and Sarah), that's pretty much what I was thinking - just choose the shell that looks best for #1. I'm just a poor judge of whether it's dressy enough for a wedding.

I'm sort of hopeless when it comes to "dressing up". I don't really know why, but there you have it.

Love #4 with a different top. The jacket, shoes and pants are modern, festive and flattering!

A day wedding in a natural environment would seem to me to be to be a little less formal, and dressy pants would seem to me to be quite appropriate in this environment. I also find that weddings vary a lot by region and community. I was shocked when I moved to NJ and found that more people go to the reception than the ceremony! I think you need to feel special, but comfortable, and most importantly, like yourself!

I'm planning for two weddings myself, and, while I love to dress up, I'm used to performance wear --- everyone looking at me, not guest wear, which is about looking nice to honor the bride, but not dressing like the floor show! I'll need your help when the time comes!

I like the white jacket with both of the pants. I think you have the jacket thing down. I feel what you need is the right tops to go with those deep v jackets.

For outfit #1 -- I would look for a pink shell or tee with a more open neck. I'd also tuck the top to go with this jacket. If you don't like pink, you could try the yellow or light blue.

For outfit #2 -- a pink, yellow, white or light grey shell might work. Again, an open neckline is needed to go with the v neck cut of the jacket.

For outfit #4 -- what about a white shell underneath? Also try the white shell plus the lace jacket for a cool pattern mix outfit (it might just work).

ETA -- oops, I see the lace jacket is b&w so it wouldn't work. How about a white shell and a pastel colored jacket?

Denise, yes, we're on the same page as far as possible shell colors, and I also agree about a lower neckline. I think the next task is to go to Nordie's with pants, jacket and shoes in tow and try on a bunch of tanks...

I'd try #2 with a gray or silver shell I think and #4 with a cobalt blue shell (like the middle one in the top of #5). I kind of like the patterned pants for an outdoor wedding as they have a fancy garden vibe to me.

I like #1 and #3 best - although #3 looks too casual for a wedding. Love Denise's advice for #1. AND PLEASE FINISH OFF THE LOOK WITH A DRESSY CLUTCH!!

Ay ay, Captain Angie. First I have to get the rest sorted and then on to the hunt for a dressy clutch. This is exhausting, I'm about ready to just wear a skirt that I already have.

Did you mean #4 is too casual for a wedding? (#3 just shows some alternative jacket colors) Is it because of the top? That was just a placeholder - I would switch it out to a shell.

But anyway, I feel more comfortable in the pants from #1, so I will search for a shell and then a dressy clutch.

Oh, Sarah! Love those silver shoes! I much prefer the navy pants. They have a dressier vibe. Love the white blazer, too. I like Denise's idea of going with a more open neckline for the top, and all those colors are complimentary on you. It's all coming together!

Don't lose heart, you're almost there. I love #1 and all you need is the top and clutch to finish it off. The really nice thing about this outfit is that you'll be able to split up the pieces afterwards and wear them more casually if you like. I think it's plenty dressy for a wedding, particularly the setting of the one you're attending. You are going to look amazing:-)
